I am new to this type of boat, I have had a jet & a outboard. How often do you have the impeller replaced? Every season? or everyother season? The boat was fully serviced before I bought it, and I put 45hrs. on it last season. What is everyone's opinion?

There's an impeller on a stern drive? J/K. The picture looks like it's a stern drive. My mechanic Jim Wilkes always tells me it depends on how much you use the boat, how hard you use the boat (lots of high speed runs, lots of skiing, lots of idling, etc.) and how "hot" your engine is. I use the s**t out of my boat; I go about every weekend during summer, wakeboard a lot (I'm still not very good), and top the speed out quite a bit (my girl loves that). And my engine is pretty "hot" meaning it has a lot of racing parts, although the top speed doesn't show that... 63 mph. I change my engine and outdrive oil 2 - 3 times a summer (beginning, middle, and end) and check all fluid levels EVERY time I use it. But then again, I use it a lot, and hard. If you don't go out all that often, like Lakemead1 http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif (kidding Greg), then changing it once or twice would be fine like at the begining of the season (which is a good time for a tune up anyway)
Long, but hopefully helpful!

Just a little input from me:
I was told (by my mechanic) to change the oil every 50 hours to be safe. In addition, if the boat is used fairly often then the impeller should be changed every other year. Some say every year, but it depends on how hard you run your boat I guess. I have changed mine every other year and it seems to be fine. But, I do get it completely looked over at the beginning of every season. This entails everything. If any bolt, bushing, hose, belt etc.. is worn it gets replaced.
I go to Les' Marine in Boulder City. FYI, he hates to work on high performance stuff. But he does it anyway. He is more the sport boat guy. But, if you take your boat to a place like All Seasons Marine or Clark's Marine in Havasu, you will be pushed off for a while if he gets some big boats in there.
(That pisses me off)

OUCH RL! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Take your shots now because I'll be on the lake soon.
You know how it is. You move to Vegas and all of the sudden every one wants to come see you, but no one wanted to see you when you lived in SLC - NOOOOOO, they didn't give a rats ass about you or your job or your life or... ha ha you get the point.
It's on brotha!
Oh yeah, get a job! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif j/k

I get an annual service at the beginning of every year and they check everything eng, drive, hoses, change all the fluids, then I get the impeller changed every other year. I also heard they say to change your impeller every 100 hrs of use.

Ohhhhh. Â*Good one! Â*
I'm just messin' with ya. Â*Seriously, I have to get all of my boating in now, cause when shooting starts back up in July..... it's all over. Â*The hours are gnarley! Â*Sometimes in at 7 am but don't wrap for the day until 10:30 or 11 pm!!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/insane.gif Â* By the time we wrap on Friday, it's too late to leave for the river, and it's too far to head up on Sat. turn around and head home mid Sun. Â* So you will catch and pass me then!
You may have gotten some visitors if you still lived in SLC for the Olympics, but then again they would be there for that and not you. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Outcole'd where do you live and where do you take it to get the work done? I take mine to quality performance in riverside they do great work and only have like a 1-2 day turn-around also they keep your boat indoors if they have it over night.

Thanks Waterndog, But I live here in Vegas. I did not think it would be that big of a deal to get the boat serviced, but with Memorial weekend here, everyone I talked to is out two weeks for a appointment. If the weather is nice, I will still be out on Friday, and just get it serviced next week.
OutCole'd,
Have you tried Les' marine in Boulder City. When I take mine in, he asks me if I need it that weekend. He is good and fair.

I am trying to stay close to home. I live on the west side of town so it takes about 50 minutes to get to Boulder city. So I found a couple of people closer to me, I will see how it goes this time. I fi does not work out well this time. I will try him next time.
Thanks for the info,
Bill

Definitely do the impeller every year. I was questioning doing mine this year because it had only been 40 hrs and 1 year, but I changed it anyway. The inside of the impeller housing had some scrapes/scoring marks into it, so I was glad I did it.
I do the drive and engine oil every 25 hrs, but that is just me. Most go with the 50 hr plan. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hey 76', who's the current? Just curious so I know to stay away, I'm about ready to have service done on mine too. Would you guys recommend Les for my boat also?, or is he better with different types of boats?

I recommend Dunsmore Marine in Boulder City. Billy is very good, and very reasonable. I have referred many people to him, and never had a complaint!

Q-lube used to have a mobile service that would come and do it right at your place. I don't know if they still do it or not but it might be an option for routine service.
