I have a 1989 z25 donzi with a 460/420hp king cobra
with a omc cobra outdrive . The upper gearcase is thrashed
the gears are fried. The housing, the shaft, and the u-joints
are still in excellent shape. My questions are does the omc
cobra share oil in the upper gearcase and the foot? I have ask a couple of different people one says yes one says no.
I found a co. call EJB Marine i found in the back of boat trader
They seem pretty straight. They said the upper and foot do share oil.My concern is metal shavings. Those guys said they will rebuild the upper gearcase with 1year warranty for 1295.00 plus shipping and they will flush the foot put new seals in it and pressure test it for an additional 250.00
They also assured me I will have it back in two weeks. Can anyone give me any input? Maybe point me in the right direction.

Thank you for your input i found a local guy he knows his stuff
its gonna run me $2500. inc recondition my ss prop ins.

Z25, i can't really help as far as any advice goes other than if you live in the vegas area you could try dunsmore custom marine in boulder city. if he's familiar with your setup, he'll definitely give you the straight scoop. good luck.

I PMed you back about someone to work on your drive.
Yes, the oil in the upper and lower unit are the same, which means, if you have shavings in the upper, you will have shaving in the lower unit also.

Did you call the guy that I suggested?
