A few weeks ago when we were getting all that rain, I decided to pull my daughter out of school for the day and take her snowboarding locally. Since it is so slow in here...I thought I would share a few pics. :D
We took off early to make it up to Bear Mountain (Big Bear area) for the day. I always like going up the back side of the mountain (Hwy 38)...a little longer but easier drive. We starting hitting snow flurries in Mentone and by the time we hit Yucaipa we were in some pretty good snowfall..
By the time we got up just past Mill Creek area, Caltrans had the road closed and weren't even letting in residents.

We waited for about an hour and had close to 8" of snow on the truck. Decided to back track down the mountain and head over to Mountain High area (about 45 min drive). CHP had this route stopped and were only letting vehicles in with chains or 4WD. When we got up to the front of the line, CHP guy looks at me signals...you got 4WD?....I nod my head and he waves me by. I don't have 4WD but with the lift and big offroad tires I guess he didn't know the difference. I just keep it moving and go easy on the "go pedal" and make it up to the parking lot, no problem. This is what it looked like getting there.

Pic from the slope looking back at the lodge/parking lot. Got quite a bit of snow while we were there, too.
