Trying to shop for this on-line has been very frustrating. I've look at about 35 sites and none of them have pricing. Only on-line price I have found is on E-bay. Any suggestions on where and how to get price comparisons.

$800 on Honda's site. (http://estore.honda.com/pe/asp/landing_nodealer.asp?RefID=PE&RefModelId=EU1000IAN&ProductSeriesId=P4GG_SUPER&ProductCatId=P2GG)

Thanks Brandon, I saw that also. Is this one of those items that the manufacturer controls the pricing on, so there's not much differance where you buy it? So far the only place I have seen them less is on E-Bay and most of those are used. Don't think I want to go that route.

Looks like Honda has a no ONLINE sales policy. So any authorized dealer will probably have it listed on their site, but instruct you to visit a store for purchase and have no ability to add to cart.

I would imagine they also have some sort of Minimum Advertised Price as well, so pricing will be pretty fixed. I would guess you may be able to get a store to go 10% off for certain sales, etc. Try and find a local smaller dealer, and they will probably be able to work with you a little bit, maybe throw in some free accessories or what not. They don't want to sell for less than they are allowed, but they can often get around this somewhat by offering a package deal. At least that has been my experience on no internet sales products in the past.

Not really dead set on Honda, I've just always heard they are the best. The Yamaha looks pretty good, and it is actually quieter. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Keith. That sounds like a great deal. I'm just a little leary buying one used.

Take a hairdryer with you (1500w or whatever) and try it out. Honda should start on the first pull.

The hair dryer test is a great idea!

I am no big fan of Honda, (they where always in the way when I was trying to go fast during racing...) but they do make great generators. I would not hesitate buying a used one unless the owner lived in a trailer....
