Ok, Check it out! Go to BoatXchange (http://www.boatxchange.com) and look at the new format. Also, we've added a huge resource section here. (http://www.boatxchange.com/links/themeindex.html)

There are still a few small adjustments we'll make, but those are the major ones so I wanted to do the poll over to see if the changes work for you all and if you like it. Vote honestly, and compare BoatXchange to BoatTrader (http://www.boattraderonline.com) and eBay for Boats (http://pages.ebay.com/ebaymotors/browse/Boats.html)

I'm also looking for more comments and constructive criticism if anyone feels so inclined.

Thanks!

Greg http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

What does the yellow C in the blue box mean? I could find a glossary on the site to see what the icons mean.

I think the "c" means classified...

Greg, the site is easy to navigate. The only thing that I've always wanted to change on "vehicle" sites is the listing order. I wish the order was either by boat length or manufacturer (or both!http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. Otherwise, I like the site.

P.S. Is that your boat for sale? Man, this time next year I'd buy it!!!

I liked it better before. I liked how you broke it down by length and year. It is easier to navigate, but now I feel like I have to look at too many boats I am not interested in. If you content grows significantly, it could be a major problem.

I know, you are trying! Can't please everyone. But, if I was looking for a boat and did not have a specific brand in mind and was interested in say 19' to 21' - I had a hard time pulling up just boats in that catagory. Perhaps I am not doing it right?

HMoly, you could try the boat search function, and in the keyword portion type in 19 20 21 or Essex, or 2000 or whatever.

Unfortunately, we cannot support searches by length other than that which is why I set it up the other way first. It seems, and I'm in agreement, the masses want super simple navigation, under the concept that more results is better than have results hare to find. Ebay pretty much does theirs the same way, but they do have three length classes. I didn't think the three length classes was enough in the first place, so I opted for going for the boat "categories". One thing I always wanted was an easy way to find just hot boats, which we have.

Thanks for the comments! Glad you like the links page MowTown

OutCole'd, there is a RECENTLY Added legend at the bottom of the listings page - that was a good thing to add and Brainlabor just threw it in there lastn night I think. They think of a lot of things I don't think of.

MowTown - that is my boat. There is no time like the present to go into debt http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Rates will probably go up next year anyway http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

HMoly, check out the "Boat Search" function page, and see if that works close to what you're looking for understanding we can't add a specific length function. You can search by price there too, so if you wanted all of the hot boats in the 30K to 40K range you could see all of those at once provided you also added a keyword like the year, type i.e. bowrider, etc. We're working on a way to get rid of the requirement for a keyword.

Thanks for the comments! I appreciate your honesty and candor.

hey, how do you guys like the "Quick or advanced search box on the top of the listings page? Does that help? That is similar to what ebay offers, but different. There are similarities to BTOnline and other sites too, but this is pretty unique.

The biggest thing with BoatXchange, and what makes some of these things hard to work around is that we offer BOTH auctions AND classifieds in one spot - the ONLY site on the net to offer both in the same spot searchable from the same database. The search term "boat auctions" is 5 to 6 times MORE REQUESTED than "Boat classifieds" - meaning I'll get more visitors because we're #2 for the search term boat auctions http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I figured out why I was getting 0 results.....it was the price range. Not that I had a small price range, but I listed (High to low). When I switched it, (low to high) then it gave me much better results.

Perhaps you could put a note under the boxes as "lowest amoungt" and "highest amount". Or am I the only jackass to think of prices from high to low? LOL

The one thing I liked about the old catagorizing by length was that it gave me a good feel on how many boats you had listed broken down by the foot. That made it real easy to search 21 footers, then 20 footers, and so on.

Also, it would be nice to see a definitions link next to each classification of boats. I think that classics, Daycruisers & runabouts, and HotBoats could be considered similar (atleast by me). A definition link next to the class that pops up a screen of a description of the boats I think would help people choose the class of boat they are truly interested in - or just make them more informed.

Not positive, but i think most people think price ranges are from low to high - good thought though, maybe we'll add that in there.

The categories will be changing soon, reducing them by 3 and making them clearer - that, when it happens, will most likely solve your other question about the definitions. they will be more clear then.

Good stuff! Still working on it, trying to make it good, or great! Or the BEST http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I always thought boat prices were from high to extremely high http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I like the search function at the top of the page when you click into a catagory. Â*If there is to many results you can narrow it down.

I am not ready yet. I have a couple of things going on right now. But if the right deal came up, who knows. If Thor pops his head in here, I better hear about this new ride.
