Event comming up this month - 24 - 27th. Who is going? Where to launch? Where to get the best view? Anybody camping out? Anybody pairing up? Anybody in need of a ride? Looks like I might get a chance to see this and is just wondering if someone wants to hook up...

I'm going down, even though the Scarab won't be done. :( The plan is to go down Thursday night, since the poker run is Friday. Saturday is the 1 mile shootouts and inshore race.
Windsor is where I'd suggest you launch, North ramp. For the poker run, anywhere between Copper Canyon and Black Meadow is a good bet. For the mile shootout, on the North side of Thompson Bay.
At this point, I do not have a ride secured. AJ from Phoenix has asked me to ride in the Lucky Strike Concept, but then I heard he might not be around. My buddy who's house I stay at has a 25' Carrera, but not sure we want to be out there in that thing.
Let me know when you figure out your plan. :)

Well, here is my agenda: I am OFF and that means I am going. The wifey is not off so that means I am going by myself. I have room for 7 people in the Suburban and 11 on the boat with comfortable seating for all. I would love to team up with somebody and split the fuel bill and have one fun week-end. I can sleep on the boat, but there is no sleeping place for anyone else onboard unless you sleep under open skies. Anybody up for it? I would have loved to join the run, but I have a few days of "test and tune" before I can hang with the big dogs. To go and watch, chill out, look at the show, a few cold ones after parking the boat (at least the driver) sounds like my kind of fun and the boat is definately ready for that! NdaWind will absolutely get a visit, just let me know what to bring for the grill...

Kim I've got a house in Havasu you're welcome to crash at if you want...I'm scheduled to work that weekend so dont know if we'll be making it down.
Its about a 15 minute tow to Windsor or Cat-tail launch ramps...
As for watching the poker run, typically the south end near Black Meadow somewhere is ideal... :thumb:

We are going and entered - just for fun. We top out at 70mph with the family on board so if you are looking for a "faster ride" we are not it. Kim: Happy to have you join us.
I will be driving very early from LA on the Friday morning (3am departure) as I dont return from SFO that previous night in time to make the drivers meeting at 8am Friday in Havasu.
We have paid up already for the event (poker run only) not the shootout and will be in town till Sunday night.

Kim--thanks for the invite but I am really hoping to bring my boat. I purchased it 18 months ago and have yet to bring it to an event. I have space for 3-4 people--is there anyone who wants to to run in the poker run who doesnt have a boat (or doesnt want to bring theirs?)...Again, the event fee is paid in full including t-shirts, 2 dinners and 2 poker hands.

We will be there Thursday - Monday. Can't wait!!!! See you guys out there.
RNG
We are heading out Wednesday night and will be on the water Thursday thru Sunday for all the festivities (in spectator mode). Don and Karen ("Get 'r Done") Cumber will be there with their boat, and rumor has it that 2 special guests will be riding shotgun with Jennifer & I. (Won't give out the names of these long-missing members of LVHB, but let's just say that the margaritas will be flowing (only at anchor or when beached, of course!)).
Last year a group of us met at the bouy line in Thompson Bay in the morning and cruised down near Black Meadows and rafted up to watch the race (sorry, I mean Poker Run!). Would love to do it again!

That sounds like a good plan - about what time?
That sounds like a good plan - about what time?
I believe the Poker Run starts around 10:30 on Friday morning. Perhaps meeting around 9:00? That would give us plenty of time to leisurely find a good place to raft up and tie off down by Black Meadows.
There will be a lot of people launching so plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time. Last year we launched at LH Marina around 8AM and had no problem. Many of the participants who aren't staying at the Nautical Inn or London Bridge Resort will launch at Windsor due to the length and noise restrictions at the marina so we will avoid that place. Cattail Cove is another option but with only 2 lanes it might get busy as well.
What do others think?

Jamie and I will be there with our girls from Thursday thru Monday staying at the Nautical Inn Condo (timeshare). It would be great to get together with everyone, we are in for meeting at the Thompson Bay bouy line at 9 and rafting up near Black Meadow. Speed runs and race: we will be camping out on the beach in front of the condo or up on the bluff next to the condo buildings/ramp. Let me know if you want to join us out on the overlook - I'll have to open the gate for you.
Should be a blast!

We will be heading down to Havasu for the whole event. We are going to leave Thursday morning and do the poker run on Friday and watch the rest of the show the following two days.
We rented an awesome house and hopefully the new motor will work without any issues during the poker run.
Going out testing tomorrow to fine tune the motor.

Nope we couldn't get in a couple of months ago so we are staying at the Islander with our RV. I hate messing around on public ramps in Havi
Sounds like we will have a great turnout. So as of now it looks like 9 AM at the Thompson Bay 5 MPH bouy line is the rendevous place Friday morning.
I just posted in the "News" forum that I have a few official LVHB cooler cups left over from last year's Lake Mohave regatta that will be available to anyone coming to the Poker Run while the current supply lasts on a 1st reserve/1st serve basis. Price is the same - just $2/each and we can get them to you either Thursday night or when we meet on Friday morning. Check out the other post if interested. (You listening Mitch? That boat of yours is really underequipt without at least 4 of these red ones onboard!)

Turn out for this event is looks like going to be a BIG one. A lot of folks from another board we are on (performance boats) are planning a big get together at indgo joes after the street fair thursday night. Also there will be a lot of people from other boards meeting up at the bouy line around 9am same as ours. Wish we had some LVHB flags or something. Our boat is in our avatar and very distuniguishable with the sharks teeth.

Years ago I tried to get some small ones made and there was little to no interest from anyone. Great minds think alike I guess. I can get some made now if there is any interest in them now? They would have to be single color on a white background. Being short notice, everyone would be on their own to figure out how to mount them. I'd just put it on my VHF antenna. Let me know ASAP though.

Looks like I'll be doing a turn-around trip that weekend to drop the boat off for the summer. I should get into town Friday noonish and leave Saturday morning. Not much fun but beat sitting at home.

Could just put it on the rear light pole, there are some very common hangers made that are made for flags on these poles. Not sure if you would net approval from Greg(site owner) or not but since time is limited maybe we could get some nice ones done by Regatta time. I would be in for that. We missed out on the cup holders, since our boat won's handle the larger size.

No problem but someone else can lead us down there, not as fimilar with Havi as some of you are. There seems to be a lot of folks meeting at the buoy lines around the same time so look for us closer to the Nautical on the buoy line. I am also thinking we better be headed down lake asap to secure a nice spot so everyone try to be there at 9.

Kim is going and it looks like I will be riding with him. I guess we could lead the charge! :) Kim, you in? I think Black Meadow is a good place to watch from, BUT, some of the big boys might not make it the whole way down the first leg.
Perhaps outside of Steamboat or Copper Canyon, or on the CA side between to two - plenty of room there and they will be moving.

There is a large area northwest of steamboat that would be a cool spot to check things out. The boats would be coming around the corner and picking up speed towards the south end of the lake, provided the pace boat has released them by then. I thought that the pace boat stayed with them until after this point.
Whatever the group decision is will be fine with us.

Start another thread - I am in on a couple
Last year we rafted up on the California side near Black Meadows (I can't remember if it was just north or south of there). The lake is wide there so you can be completely out of the way of the participants (Especially if someone loses control!). Plus they are running at top speed which would not be the case near Steamboat.
I also read about 3 Dunes and am wondering if you wouldn't get a better view by being elevated high above water level somewhere across the lake on the Arizona side, plus you don't have to worry about holding the rafted boats apart when the wakes roll by (multiple fenders obviously are needed per side but the sometimes violent rocking requires constant vigilance by all hands onboard!). The problem with that is finding enough space to safely anchor/beach all the boats while we hike to higher ground.
Don't have the answers - Just throwing it out there!:dunno:
I do agree with leaving as close to 9 as possible. Between NdaWind & Kim, there shouldn't be any problem recognizing the rendevous spot.

Good point never thought about the wake action. Better check the air in my bumpers. If they are a full speed maybe less wake on the big cats:thumbs_up: might not be god to be on a beach with big wakes comin in. As Seas just throwing it out there. Where ever we will be will be fun.
