I live in Ohio,
Carerra's are not that popular in the Mid West. Cats are not really all that popular here. About all that we have with a good reputation is Eliminator. I am looking at buying a 1997 257 Carerra, with a blown 572. The current owner is claiming 121mph. I am just looking for info on the boat quaility and if this speed is close to reality? And a comparison in quaility to Eliminator. Any info would be appreciated.

I don't have any personal experience with Carerra, but people that I know that have had them had nothing but good things to say. I know of one 257 here that is a 97 (or whatever the first year they made them was) that still looks brand new and the guy uses the shit out of it. As far as speed, if it's not that fast, I'm sure it's damn close. I don't think Eliminator is any better quality than a Carerra though either.
......... and WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

121 is really fast, especially for a 25' boat. I know a DCB 26' cat is supposed to run 111 or so with a 700hp blown 509. 10mph faster in a V-bottom with similar power? I'd want to throw a GPS in it and have him bring it back with the big number (while I watched from the dock) just to make sure.
Welcome...hope to see you on the lake sometime.

Thanks for the replies guys! STV_Keith, I would love to go boating on the West Coast, but I don't think it will happen this year. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

To correct my post above, I was referring to the 257 Effect X, which is a cat, I didn't know they made a 257 V hull. My mistake.
the 257 is a cat. what kind of power is the 572 making? i don't believe that the hulls are quite as fast as the daytonas and the dcb's (with comparable power) but are very well built. i've never heard anything bad about them and have seen some very sweet looking 257's. donnie's 25 daytona is making a ton of power and i don't believe he's hitting 120+. i could be wrong though. good luck and keep us posted! have any pics?http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Well I gues I am not going to get the Carrera. It is in Chicago (about 7hrs. from me) I was going to go look at it this weekend, the owner said he had a planned trip to Havasu to test drive his new Skater and decided to take the Carrera with him to take it to a broker to sell it on the West Cost for more money? Not sure he is a straight up kind of guy. Here is a photo of it. You might see it out there.

Just thought I would let you guys know that this boat is now listed on boattraderonline saying that it is in Havasu. I had someone call the guy and it is still in Chicago. If anyone is interested in the boat don't wire money, make sure you see and hear the boat first!!! http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/8/41488288.htm

If you think that is bad check out the spelling on the expired ad he had on ebay. (I was winning up until 2min when he yanked the auction due to the high bid not being enough) I have been kinda following him and the boat ever since. He sells used cars on ebay. Well, if Bill (CSX4266) ever got on this site, he could give you good info on his. I believe his is a 1998 with a 1000 HP Larry Peto blower motor. I believe he's gotten over 110mph with his. It's a sweet boat!! For 121, I don't know, it would have to have some other factors involved; at sea level?? more than 1000 HP??
Brad
it is a sweet lookin' boat, but i don't think it would hit 121 with that hp. i would guess closer to 1300hp to hit those speeds. not that i would no from experience since my ride gets NO WHERE close to that. he does sound pretty flakey though http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif if you're gettin' the heeby jeebies from the guy, walk away and find another boat!! there are plenty out there right now. check out the boats on boatxchange. there are some smokin' boats on there right now (especially this nordic viking i happen to see on there http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ). how's that for a little spam for ya greg http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I have a question for anyone that has an answer. I have been using another web site for the link to my avatar and I keep losing it. Does anyone know how I can get my avatar on this web site for the url link? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
try right clicking on the pick. once that screen comes up click on "preferences". then highlight the url, right click again and pick "copy". close the screen, open the screen back up that asks for the url and click "paste". it should show up in the box. click "ok" and it should be a done deal. if that don't work, throw you 'puter out the window and tell it that it will be allowed back in the house when it learns how to behave http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
