Yea, I know.....I seem to get addicted to things sometimes. Hey, where are those pics of our cruise on Friday? For the rest of you, Beer Hunter, No strESSEX, and myself took BH's new 25' Shockwave out of Dana Point and flew up to Huntington Peir and back. It was a great afternoon on the water. When we left our house it was 94 degrees when we got to the harbor it was 75 degrees! 75 degrees on January 30th!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif The swells couldn't have been much smaller than they were that day! What an awesome day....and on a boat to boot. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Kevin, that was a blast! By the way, what's the rule concerning parking a boat in a friends driveway? It's my understanding that after 3 days, it officially becomes the property of the owner of the driveway. What do think? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

On second thought, then I'd have to sell two boats. Never mind. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Kevin,
I know this might sound stupid but here goes. You said you guys dropped in at Dana point and ran down to Huntington, well I was wondering if it is worth it to do an overnight run to Catalina, dropping in at Dana. I have been to Catalina on the cattle boats and flew out there once. It seems like it could be a fun run. I grew up near New port but never had a boat worthy of the run. what do you think?

I'm sure Kevin will jump in on this but until he does, I'll throw my two cents in for whatever it's worth.

From Dana Point it's @30 miles to Avalon. A better angle and shorter, is from Long Beach, about 25 miles.

I have been over many times on my dad's 48' trawler, but as long as you're watching the weather closely, you shouldn't have much problem, especially in the early morning. In a smaller boat you just can't lock in a trip without relying on decent weather, which fortunatly is a good bit of the time around here. Hope that helps! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

25Rage-We were thinking of doing that but being that it was the first time in the water we didn't want to get too far away from shore. You never know what might happen that first time out. It is about +/- 30 miles from Dana Point to Catalina. It would have been very do-able that day. I think you would be fine. The only thing I would check before I went out would be the weather forecast. I wouldn't want to do it if the swells were going to be big or if the wind was going to kick up. Usually the mornings are best for ideal conditions, so just head over in the morning, spend the night and head back the next morning. Your 25 should do just fine! Good luck. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think the CC&R's state....that any boat left in your neighbors driveway for more than 3 days becomes the property of the association....and the president of that association determines what to do with the property in question. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif This should ease your mind Kurt about having to sell 2 boats....I would only have to sell one! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Thanks you guys, I could see how it wood be hard to lock down a trip and hope to have good weather, so I guess I would need to plan a couple of extra days in just for weather factor. That would ok with me. I’m going to try it this summer, I think running up and down the coast and then out to Catalina would be very cool……
