a place called Three Roofs...an old indian ruin

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6006.jpg

You had to traverse up this to get to it!

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6015.jpg

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6026.jpg

This is what our houseboat looked like...75'

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6043.jpg

I think my dog wanted to stay forever there

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6047.jpg

Even had time for some horseshoes....

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6054.jpg

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6061.jpg

Couldn't beat the early morning water

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6083.jpg

Since I was the Captain of the big boat my son was getting quite a bit of seat time in what he refers to as "his" boat.

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6151.jpg

A little fun on the island

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6178.jpg

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd306/kevnmcd/IMG_6155.jpg

And what houseboat trip wouldn't be complete without some mechanical failures? Ended up losing a starter on the port motor leaving Rock Creek and heading back down lake....close to 50 miles with one motor! :cussing:

Well...that about raps up my trip. I have well over 1000 pics but I don't think you want to look through them all so I only posted some of the better ones. Had a great time. Spent a sh*t load of $$$ on fuel but can't wait to go back again. I think next time we will extend the trip and do at least 10 days if not 14! Still haven't explored the San Juan River Arm or been up past the Escalante. Hope you all enjoyed the pics! :D

P.S. RH - Did I do okay on the pics? ;)

You should have just come up and followed us around. ;) I have been there 3 times now and feel pretty comfortable with everything between Wahweap and Escalante. Just one word of caution....choose the people you share your houseboat with very carefully. You get to know your friends REAL well when you are with them 24/7 on a small boat. :) We didn't have any problems but I have heard horror stories before.

I do know that first hand. After three houseboat trips on Mead I have had some issues. LOL You probally are remembering one of my Houseboat stories from a few years back....LOL:eek3:

If I would have remembered you all were going we would have hoteled it and followed you around for a few days.

We will be out in Havi pretty much every weekend excluding this one from now untill Nov. Hope to see you out there.

I did a houseboat trip on Lake Shasta with some people quite a few years ago that didn't go so well, so I know that it takes a lot of patients from everyone to make it manageable.

We did a cool thing on this trip where we had two special chairs that we designated as "Grumpy" chairs (yes, they actually had patches on them of Grumpy). At anytime during the trip, whether one of the kids or adults felt that one of the other adults needed to be put in that chair for a "time out" then all they had to do was ask that person to go sit in the "Grumpy" chair until they could change their attitude. Of course, the chair was stocked with an ice chest full of adult beverages right next to it but it worked really well and at the same time kind of made light of someone getting a little "Grumpy". We had one adult put themselves in the chair for a while...the was pretty comical. The best thing to do is just remember that everyone is there to have FUN!

Thats a great idea. The problem is I would spend the whole trip in the chair drinking all the beer. LOL:D:D:drinkers:

That was kind of the problem with us too....we all wanted to spend time in the chair for that very reason! :D

Great Pics Kev, I knew the Sherrif would come through. We will be heading back there in October. We been there 5 times now and never been up the San Juan and only the first 3 arms of the escalante. There's just so much water to cover. We did take one day and made a bee line up to Bull Frog just to say we got past Escalante. :thumb:

We'd like to go some time with a big group and a few smaller house boats that way you won't have the 24/7 deal going on. say like 2 family's per boat.

Great pics guys - just got back last night at 11pm from the weekend there on 'ONLY MONEYS' houseboat :D One of the best boating trips ever - perfect weather, hot women :boobies: (some pics to follow - PG rated of course :D :D ) bad ass boats and a decent amount of Liquor :drinkers:

Highlights include -
Meeting MarDonzi and AZ LakeLizard - discount fuel :D
125mph Skater 32 ride - listening the music and watching someone's top fall down :D
Earning my offshore driving license with a 26' DCB through the main channel -- called Southwest airlines for flight clearance a few times
Great friends, great memories and great stories
$1200 weekend, but more importantly - I need a houseboat with WI FI so I can work virtually

I can't wait for the next trip - man I love Powell.

Hey Kev - what mile marker were you guys camping in? Beautiful background as always.

That is a long ways to go on a houseboat. We wanted to get as close to Dangling Rope as we could with a nice beach and then use the "little" boats for our sight seeing excursions. :) Would love to make it up to Bullfrog area one of these times.
