anyone on here familiar with the different racing organizations? at what age and what type of cars can i have my boy start racing? he'll be 4 in july so i'm sure he's still a bit young but i'd like to start "shopping" to see what's out there.

maybe have him start out with RC car racing?
he can learn all there is to know about the setup of racing cars. So by the time he is ready to sit behind the wheel, he has a good idea of what going on with the cars setup.
Its a huge deal with races every weekend, large cash winnings, and low sign up fee's. and now days the chassis of the RC cars is far more detailed than a full size. So the adjustments you would make on this, would be the same as your fullsize, just not as precise. becuase .005mm can be the difference in a good chassis setup, and a bad one..
just a thought :)

Yeah you are a little early to start competitive racing. Usually the youngest age group is 5 years old. However now would be a great time to buy a kart and start practicing. That way when he is old enough you walk in and kick ass first race, your not learning like all the other new guys. I'll look for some links to the track in LV for ya. There are 2 that I know of the one on the south end of town and the one at LVMS.

Is the one still open at the sports park on Sunset @ LV Blvd? That would be a good place to practice.

Head out to LVMS on Friday night, the kart track is right behind the bullring. Just ask some of the fellas in the pit, they are more than willing to help you out. I have a shifter and used to go there every friday, but now the boat has taken over and the kart just sits there. Maybe this fall I brush the dust off of it and take it for a spin again - it is one awesome motorsport and you actually have right turns as well.... The younges ones out there can't be much over 5 years old... They race small karts with honda lawnmover engines. Simple to maintain and cheap to run...

I saw something about kids racing rhino's. They are completely custome with a full cage. I am not sure as to what the age is. I know they have dirt bike racing and quads for kids. I just don't know the ages for starting. I know John West's (Ultra Boats) kids do some racing. You might want to PM him over on hotboat.
