Check out the video of the guy here: Video 1 (http://www.speedcraving.com/stv/new-motor/renee-park-ranger01.mpg)

Video 2 (http://www.speedcraving.com/stv/new-motor/renee-park-ranger02.mpg)

So Brian and I come tooling up to Echo Bay marina. Get into the no wake zone and back it down to idle, showing 4.2mph on the GPS. When I get to the dock, this dickhead Ranger tells me I'm going too fast and that I need to control my boat or get cited.

After tieing up, he does a complete inspection for lifejackets, fire extinguisher, etc. Then he sees the 2002 decal on the boat and reads me the riot act about that. I tell him that the registration has been filed (on 12/20/02) online, and that the paperwork shows this, but that I did not have a copy of that paperwork with me. It says nothing about carrying this paperwork in the boat. So he gives me a warning for not having proof of registration as well!

Basically, I'm saying that LVHB as a group should just stay out of Echo Bay...why spend our $$$ there for food or fuel, to get harrassed because we're the only boats on the water in January.

Oh, and I called the Department of Wildlife...it's common knowledge with them AND the Game Warden (called him too) that there is a NV statute that gives a 30 day grace period to last years' sticker.

Rangers are dicks
We always get harrassed when we are riding on the Sand Dunes here.
All rangers must have been picked on when they were in high school http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

What I have found effective is to find out who the ranger's supervisor is and complain. Make the complaint rational, concise and calmly. Tell them that you are the one to be served by their presence and the rude attitude is not to be tolerated. This worked very effectively for me on several occasions. When a supervisor gets involved they seem to be more experienced and rational than the ranger themselves. State your case and be polite. If more of us complain about the rude and unreasonable behavior of these pricks then we can get something done. We have the rights to use the waterways as well as any other persons.

Just my $0.02!

Aren't outboards like PWC's and outlawed on Mead and Mohave? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The PWC ban was lifted and new policies are in effect. I have left a message for his boss already, and am waiting to have my words with him.

Sh$t! Thought we had the lakes to ourselves! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Definitely make yourself a pest in contacting his supervisor. Call as many times as it takes to get a response. If not successful, write a letter - very effective. Copy his supervisor's supervisor if you can determine who that is. Letter writing gets results. Ask the tree-huggers. Squeeky wheel gets oiled.

Cool, so I say we boycott Echo as a group. We don't need that type of hassle. Collectively, we have several members and a pretty good reach into the vegas boating community. We couldn't bring them down but maybe they won't be quite as profitable http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif I've stayed there before and bought gas and ice and beer and such, I'll get it somewhere else now.

Easy now. We all know that the Rangers are not park of the store and facilities at Echo. They are government employees. Not Echo Bay Marina employees.

Well can't Echo Bay complain and request the rangers are nicer then? I sure would if I owned the place.

I know what you are saying, but its like getting mad a the IRS for taxes. You dont yell at the post office for delivering your taxes, you yell at the IRS.

I am not defending the asshole ranger, I am just saying you are taking the wrong route in getting your point across.

Stick with the ranger's chain of command. Do comment to the concessionaire at Echo Bay as well and find out if it's a common problem. They may have some insight as to who to talk to.

We did this a couple of year's ago at Isabella Lake in California. The ranger that visited our campsite gave us all kinds of unwarranted hassles (long story) and finally I was fed up and demanded he bring his supervisor to our site. He, in fact, did bring the supervisor and after a heart to heart talk about our concerns the supervisor took the ranger aside, read him the "riot act" - publically no less - and the rangers couldn't have been nicer the rest of the Fourth of July weekend to us. I just reminded the Ranger super that we were in fact taxpayers and the the issues involved could quite literally cost the ranger and the super their job if not handled correctly. The super was very polite and listened and resolved the issues.

Although THOR is correct, “the Rangers are not part of the store and facilities at Echo”, they are “government employees”; public servants, and are accountable for their actions, regardless...

The owner of ECHO BAY Marina must also be made aware that they are about to loose our business, merely due to the mistreatment of “US” boaters by ONE particular Ranger.

One thing which will get the immediate attention of everyone involved is, copy: cc: all of your correspondence to the ranger’s office to the owners of the Echo Bay Marina as well. I am sure the owner of Echo Bay Marina know the Ranger; probably personally.

I did talk with his boss today. A pretty nice guy. I was also told by one of the people working at Echo that Rene Buehl (the ranger) was due to leave Echo in February. HOPEFULLY that will be the case.

His boss is going to have a chat with him regarding his lack of knowledge of the Nevada Statute giving a 30 day grace period on registrations.

The people at Echo did know who I was talking about, even though I didn't have his name when I called on Monday. They are aware of their "prick" ranger on site.

BTW Jordy, it doesn't smoke that bad...and it seems that the people of Echo also share my same views regarding this guy.

Don't be a hater Jordy. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
