That's what you get when you give an idiot some beer and a Seedoo "lake lice" boat. Hopefully, no one was hurt...but he is still an idiot.

It can happen to any idiot in any type of boat with too much beer.

I agree with you, Scott. However, it seems to happen to these people more often. Lake Lice just seem to have less respect for what can happen. Just my opinion.

On that note I will agree with you as well. I just wanted to point out that even those in the custom ranks can make errors in judgement. Personally, I don't drink if I'm driving my boat. But that's just my choice and is in no way meant to be me preaching anything to anyone.

Preach away Scott, I agree and I'm not afraid to say it. Anyone who drinks and drives deserves to be shot.
Do you remember seeing the shot in Hot Boat a few years ago of a 34' Hallett that ran up the river bank during 4th of July. The boat was completely out of the water, straight up the hill. Witnesses said it happened at like 2 am. or something!! For one thing, I'd bet money he was drinking. Secondly, how fucking stupid do you have to be to go that fast at night!!!??

Easy with the lake lice, I mean PWC riders, bashing. I'm one of the very responsible operators. Seems just recently I've seen a pic on here of a 25 Hallet embedded in the narrows wall.
Stupidity doesn't discriminate.

I was about to say something smart, like thats why they call them entry level boats. Then I remebered about five years ago when a 42 Fountain ran into land at night on Lake Mead. Vegas locals probably remember the news on that one. He was drunk and even hit another boat leaving the marina earlier that day. I can't remember all the details but I think there were fatalities. The mess of a boat sat in a storage yard in Boulder for a while. Don't know if anyone has pics of the boat.

hmmmm, interesting turn on the thread.
Runnin, I know no one has a problem with a responsible PWC operator, the problem is 90% of them are NOT responsible. Glad you're one of the good guys.
HD, RL, where do you draw the line of "Drinking and Driving"? There's an interesting thought (just a thought, not anything more).
I think I can go to the lake, have a few beers, eat, drink some water, and head back with no problems. I even went through the sobriety checkpoint last year after the 4th of Jul. and no problem - said I was .02 but scared the crap out of me (first time).
I can see people doing stupid stuff deserving what they get, but I also think responsible adults can enjoy themselves on the lake with a couple of beers and cause no harm to themselves or others. The key being responsible.
So, do you draw the line at .08 like the states do? Hmmm? So that's what, about a beer an hour?
Just a thought....

LM, you bring up a very good point, where is that line? That is soemthing that can be debated until we are blue in the face.
I tend to agree with you, going out in the morning, having some beer over the course of the day, some beer not being a case in 4 hours, and then being sober enough to safely operate a boat.
It's all about being responsible. Both in the operation of your boat and in your drinking.
Personally, if I plan on driving my boat, I will not have any alcohol. That is my choice.
It is a proven fact that alcohol consumption and it's effects on the body are intensified with exposure to the heat and sun. So, from that knowledge, we each as adults need to draw our own conclusions about what our actions will be, to drink or not to drink. Unfortunately, some people have trouble making the sensible decision and that is why we have accidents and why we have laws.
Now as to where I feel the line should be, I think it should be less for the operation of a boat when compared to the operation of a car. The main reason being a boat does not have brakes.
Again, the big key in this debate is responsibility. Greg, in your 4th of July example, you did IMHO the repsonsible thing, paced yourself over the course of the day and drank water as well. I'm more concerned about the guy throwing back silvers for 5 hours straight and then going on a banzai run. Or the boater that is stone cold sober but not paying attention to what it is they are doing can be just as dangerous, and in some cases, possibly more.

Good point. Yeah, I actually drank a gallon of water that day, half of it in the afternoon when I new I would be heading in. Part of the fun for me is hanging on LVHB beach with everyone and knocking back a couple http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
You could debate that till you're blue in the face, that's for sure!

I don't mean to start a debate Greg, I hate debates! When I say "drink and drive" it should read "drunk and drive". I don't care if you have a couple, but when someones judgement is impared and they still drive, I don't tolerate that. But I completely agree with Scott, it doesn't have to be alcohol or drugs that impares someones judgement. I see dickheads all the time f**king around with there stereo, taking off their shirt, trying to get a beer out of the ice-chest, etc. while driving and damn near hitting everything in site.......... and usually not even knowing it!! The best one of all time I saw was a boat in front of me in the Channel full of black guys who thought they were all Puff Daddy or something had their stereo as loud as it could go, all of the guys on the boat throwing beads and yelling disgusting comments to the girls, and the f**king DRIVER was the one with the video camera trying to tape all the thongs, and drink a 40 at the same time!!! He was all over the f**king place, stopping, going, stopping, going.
I would prefer that the driver didn't drink at all, since most people can't control themselves and deny the truth................... BUT, who am I to say. Like you said we could debate til' we're blue in the face. Just hope no one gets near me if they are drunk and driving or just not paying attention. I let them know what I think!
BTW - I too love riding our PWCs, they are fun as hell. Well, were. We are going to get the new 4-strokes. But yes, most of the PWCers, especially in the "touristy" spots: Havasu, Parker, Laughlin..... are a bunch of irresponsible a-holes. Don't see too many of those at Mojave, Mead, and Powell though!!

There's plenty of them on LVHB beach. Plenty of times the bastards (usually some heffer or 300 lb. dude) come whipping by the shore, close enough to throw a nice wake and knock the boats around.
I don't know, I think PWC's are fine, but I think PWC users AND boaters should be required to have a license and a test in and out of water to get that license. I went the the USPS safety/boating course earlier this year with Keith.
I didn't mean to start a debate, I was just looking for that line http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Where's Riverdave for the debates http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif He's good at it!

your all off the deep end! the dude just misplaced his truck, and chainsaw, and ramp, and and and ohh never mind he's just wasted http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
i'm with RL and HD on this one. if i'm driving ANYTHING i don't drink any alcohol. and just to throw this out there, alcohol leaves your body at a rate of .045 per hour. it does not matter what you eat or drink, it will leave your body at the exact same rate. so the old trick of drinking a bunch of coffee will make you sober again is way off.

I know this thread is kinda old but I had some time on my hands and was reading a few old ones. Just to put my 2 cents in I dont even even bring any alcohol on the boat when its a day trip. You never know when something is going to come up, some sort of emergency or something and I dont want to be too wasted to drive should something like tis happen. Now if we are going to camp over night yeah I'll bring a few for the night but thats about it. Dont get me wrong though, as I'm sitting there in the sun drinking a soda or water the thought going through my head most of the time is "god I wish I had a beer right now". I'm with Havasu Dreamin' on the lower limit. But where are you going to draw that line? oh well I'll get down off my soap box now sorry for bringing up a debate you guys probably thought was dead http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif .
