I was just wondering what everyone thought an extreme boat was?
I hope the new magazine that is supposed to come out...will actually have some coverage of what I would condider EXTREME boats http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif which would be wicked nasty assed boats with big power and no DVD's http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

I have high hopes for that magazine too. I would love to see a competitor for Hot Boat that shows "Extreme" high power high price dream boats, AND some realistic boats (mostly realistic though).
The web page for the new magazine looks like a ton of Offshore boats and no lake boats. We'll see.

From what Jim told me,the first issue is supposed to come out in February. It'd be nice to see a magazine that doesn't cater to the builder of stock powered boats. We can read about those in all the other magazines. If you're going to call something "Extreme Boats", lets make sure they're not the same old run of the mill stuff everyone else covers. There's nothing wrong with stock power, something to be said for turn key reliability, but extreme, in my book, means big power and fast, period. We don't care about wet bars, DVD's and custom porta-potties http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . I wish the guys best of luck with the magazine and hope it turms into something of interest to us boaters.

I don't think its up and going yet rude, but I'm sure it will be soon.
The only thing I hope, is that it is a real boating magazine...we are mostly all lake boaters, granted a 55 foot hustler is cool but I can read Power boat for that, and we all know that Hot Boat could not give an honest evaluation of a coustom boat if there life depended on it.

I talked to Art today via email exchanges. the first issue will be out late Feb and will be the March issue.

I don't know exactly what they will be covering, but I imagine it will be similar to Hot Boat, who knows. I wish them the best of luck too.

They were nice enough to give me advertising on their site for mine BoatXchange (http://www.boatxchange.com)

Here's an interesting thought. Let's say they give a subscription away with an EBA membership.....

Hey Art, are they still going to honor the three free issues we all sighned up for a bit ago? Who's actually the magazine? Editor, tech guy, writers etc.?

LakeRacer

Yes,
You will still get the 3 free. First issue will be late February.

I'll have Mike Murphy answer who all the writers are.

Yeah, I agree with some of the previous too. I also signed up for the 3 free issues. You'll definitely be getting a check from me each year if it's a good magazine, Art! Good luck with the new endeavor.

Thanks for all of your interest in the new magazine.
To help answer some of your questions regarding our staff I first must start with the fact that this magazine is proud to be starting with a clean slate. We are building the magazine around the reader and not the manufactures. You wont see us testing boats that the manufactures want us to. You wont see stories about how great every boat is and you probably have not heard of some of our writers like Ron Polli, Joe Scrokci, or John Tiger Jr. But, You will see our angle on boat stories, told in the first person point of view. Supplying you guys with the real world information, Video links of every boat feature that will include onboard, heli mounted, and stationary camera views along with video interviews of the owners and a really cool story of our experience in the boat. Our goal is to put our readers in that boat with us so they can see the story as never before. To learn more about our writers, their experience, and the key players in the magazine division check out our website under the "Our Team" section that will be posted in the next week.

Thanks again for all of your support and welcome to the new Extreme Team!

Mike

sounds better than that sugar coated crap Hot boat comes out with. They always seem to love every boat! It reminds me of the investment bankers and stock analysts - the stock analyts always seem to love the companies the IB guys are trying to get business from. The more business there is to get, the more the analysts kiss their ass and tout their company.

Good to hear this will be real world info! Hopefully there will be a way to request a boat review!

Hopefully you'll be testing some on Lake Mead http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Any chance this mag will have some (any) outboard stuff in it? I think Hot Boat devotes maybe 2-3 pages per issue to outboards. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ohboy.gif

I don't see why not Keith. There are more boats on the water with outboards than anything else, and that is a statistical fact. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
