Santa brought XBox for Christmas at the new house in Havasu. Along with the included games Santa also delivered Halo...Just started it and from a computer nerd's perspective the graphics are gourgeous. Especially on a big screen with surround sound. XBox Live will have to wait until next trip.

The problem with the computer industry (same for game consoles) is that by the time the next box comes out the box it was aiming at is somewhere else. The technology paradigm shifts (see: Moore's Law) about 100% every 18 months or so. It's unfair to compare what is out now with what is coming out in the future. Also, ALL computer companies (no exclusions in this statement) announce "vapor-ware" long before it is available or even sometimes economically feasible. What is GUARANTEED is that as long as the manufacturers continue to design new products they will "leapfrog" each other endlessly.
Today, the specs seem to say that the XBox has the most powerful platform. The PS2 certainly has more games available - both PS2 and from what I've read PS1 games will run on it. I don't have a clue what the Game Cube is doing...
Just my 2 cents worth. (in today's market - that ain't worth much!http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I just want to see Halo 2 come out!
I was playing live with another guy NFL Fever, said he had PS2 also and XBOX was better, who knows. One thing that SUCKS about XBOX is no optical cable output on the back to go to the receiver for surround, so you have to hook it up different and use the RCA's and have Dobly II to force the sound into surround. Halo sounds awesome in surround, so does GR, in fact I jump sometimes when I get shot. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/insane.gif

LM1 ... Are you connecting the XBox using the S-Video kit or the standard connection cable included? I bought the S-Video and connected to the big screen - awesome! Haven't gotten far enough in Halo to "lust" for Halo II yet.

the wife and I beat Halo, on the easy level, so now we're doing it again on Heroic level http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif Wait till you get into fighting other people on split screen - it's insane. We have four controllers and whenever our friends come to town we play that a bunch.
I bought the RGB kit for the tv (HD TV) at Circuit City. It has the hook ups to go to my receiver and works good. I like it. I just wish it had an optical cable for better sound.

I've only played Halo for a few hours so far. Santa brought it as a combined present for me and the new Havasu house (combined DVD/CD player) so it stays out there. Playing on Easy level to get the hang of the controls which are quite different from a PC. I'm used to using both hands with a mouse, keyboard and joystick for the PC when playing a FPS so it won't take me long to get the hang of it. Extra controllers will have to wait a while as the new house need furniture first! The Halo website has a good guide for playing Lengendary level - check it out.
See this! (http://www.bungie.net/perlbin/blam.pl?file=/site/1/site/halo/features/sp_guide01.html)

Santa
Could there be?
Lets look into it.....hehehheh...
No known species of reindeer can fly. BUT there are 300,000 species of living organisms yet to be classified, and while most of these are insects and germs, this does not COMPLETELY rule out flying reindeer which only Santa has ever seen.
There are 2 billion children (persons under 18) in the world. BUT since Santa doesn't (appear) to handle the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, and Buddhist children, that reduces the workload to 15% of the total - 378 million according to Population Reference Bureau. At an average (census) rate of 3.5 children per household, that's 91.8 million homes. One presumes there's at least one good child in each.
Santa has 31 hours of Christmas to work with, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth, assuming he travels east to west (which seems logical). This works out to 822.6 visits per second. This is to say that for each Christian household with good children, Santa has 1/1000th of a second to park, hop out of the sleigh, jump down the chimney, fill the stockings, distribute the remaining presents under the tree, eat whatever snacks have been left, get back up the chimney, get back into the sleigh and move on to the next house.
Assuming that each of these 91.8 million stops are evenly distributed around the earth (which, of course, we know to be false but for the purposes of our calculations we will accept), we are now talking about .78 miles per household, a total trip of 75 1/2 million miles, not counting stops to do what most of us must do at least once every 31 hours, plus feeding and etc.
This means that Santa's sleigh is moving at 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound. For purposes of comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second - a conventional reindeer can run tops 15 miles per hour.
The payload on the sleigh adds another interesting element. Assuming that each child gets nothing more than a medium-sized Lego set (2 pounds), the sleigh is carrying 321,300 tons, not counting Santa, who is invariably described as overweight. On land, conventional reindeer can pull no more than 300 pounds.
Even granting that "flying reindeer" (see point #1) could pull TEN TIMES the normal amount, we cannot do the job with eight, or even nine. We need 214,200 reindeer. This increases the payload - not even counting the weight of the sleigh - to 353,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance - this air will heat the reindeer up in the same fashion as spacecraft's re-entering the earth's atmosphere.
The lead pair of reindeer will absorb 14.3 QUINTILLION joules of energy. Per Second. Each. In short, they will burst into flame almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them, and create deafening sonic booms in their wake. The entire reindeer team will be vaporized within 4.26 thousandths of a second. Santa, meanwhile, will be subjected to centrifugal forces 17,500.06 times greater than gravity. A 250-pound Santa (which seems ludicrously slim) would be pinned to the back of his sleigh by 4,315,015 pounds of force.
In conclusion, if Santa ever DID deliver presents on Christmas Eve -- he's dead now.

I saw the physics lesson on Santa before. Don't remember the specifics from those days (years ago) but they were pretty similar to your post.
You have to remember to take into consideration the alternate Universe that Santa lives/works in. He only comes to our Universe once a year when the rip in the space/time continuum can be opened to admit him to ours. Santa's Universe doesn't abide by the same physical boundaries as our Universe does. By "dipping" into and out of his Universe he can get all of his work done within ours by obeying the physical rules of his native Universe. Time passes much more slowly in his relative to ours.
Parallel Universe are a well known though little publicized fact that the unwashed masses are unaware of.
