I have a 01 GL1800 Goldwing and was wondering if anyone had experience towing a boat around 8,000 lb loaded, with one?

I have seen these with hitches attached to them and thought I could save fuel in my truck by using the bike.

you could do it if you beef up your rear suspension and put racing cam in. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

The GL 1800 would pull it but you would never be able to stop

You can pull it but just barely. If you install a flux capaictor you will gain more torque on the low end without sacrificing the top end speed. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rollinglaugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/urinate.gif

But you would need 1.21 Jigawatts to run it... http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

I would opt for an RV cam over the racing cam if you are pulling 8,000 lbs. But you should be good to go...

Would a different wind shifter on the front wheel be of any help?

Also should I move the front foot pegs to reduce wind blockage?

And will the wife be able to ride on the bike or should she be in the boat handling the auxillary brake handle for the trailor.

i really want to thank you for the help!!!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

Another thought-Tongue weight.

Should I change the exhaust pipes to point up emitting the exhaust directly under the saddlbags? This increase of air flow should raise the back of the bike reducing the weight put on the shocks.

or:
Install a mechanics creeper under the trailor jack as an idle wheel?

If you leave the tongue jack down that will lower the weight on the hitch...

Exactly my thought.
Lower the tounge jack onto a mechanics creeper. This will keep the weight off the bike and help to control the trailer with the addition of the 4 wheels on the ground from the creeper.

I could use a size 29 EEEE roller blade on the jack that way if I blow a wheel it can be laced off then a new one back on eliminating the need for wrenchs. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/beerchug.gif

Yall are getting way off base with the bike mods. You would never be able to ride it when the boat was not behind you. Weight the swimplatform to counter the tongue weight! Maybe you could take the fuel tank out of the boat and put it there. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Yall were makin this way to complicated http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

Have the wife rev the boat motor while in reverse for added wind brake on steep declines.

If I moved the fuel tank would'nt the added weight of the bungee straps holding on reduce the pulling power of the bike?

This has got to be the simplest answer ever. Cut a hole in the bottom of the boat, drop the bike in so the wheels stick out the bottom bolt it all together and ride the boat to the ramp. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Okay round up of modifications

Installgas tnak on swim plateform tie down with bugies to keep weight off of tough.

Cut hole inbottom to fit goldwing to balance the load.

Put wife in boat to handle braking and putting boat in forward or reverse. "also keeps her for talking to me.

Add inline skates to trailer jack.

This is toooo much work.

I think I will get a Pinto. Put a fifth wheel setup on it and use it. Hell if a ranger can pull a 10,000lb boat the Pinto should handle 8,000 easy.

Ahhhh, thats gonna be a stretch, you might want to get 2 Pintos, one to pull the boat andone to push it. Hook it all together like a train.

Here's the soulution for ya Jake! It is actually a boat you can fold together, also functions as a camper!
