Hi guys,

Let me start by saying I have been lurking around this site for quite some time. My boat is definately not a "hot boat" so I've been hiding in the crouds.

Onto my problem. This Sunday while driving at lake with my 95 Larson (volva penta) there was suddenly a wierd boom (soft sounding) and then the steering wheel completely spun to the left.

I killed the engine, then took at look at the prop and everything seemed fine. Went to start it back up and it took quite some time to get the engine to turn over. After that I started to give it some gas and realized that the wheel wanted to pull hard to the left and that it was next to impossible to turn right. I creeped back to the dock and called it a day.

Does anyone know of a good repair shop that I can take my boat to or have any ideas what could be wrong? I have been planning a big trip for this weekend and was hoping to have it repaired by then. I have already called Offshore Marine and they are booked until the end of the month. They recommended Aqau Marine so I have left a message with them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I'm not familiar with the VP drives, but I would carefully check out everything visible in the engine compartment.. Any oil(hydraulic fluid) in the bilge area? Power steering pump have fluid? Look for anything obvious and maybe some things not so obvious.

Others may have some additional ideas, but here's (http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=3;t=5695) a great place to start looking for a location that can get it up and running.

Call Aqau Marine back, I don't know your schedule, but they start at around 4:30am or 5am. He said if I had my boat there by 5:30am he would check it out that day. Call them back ask for Kenny and tell him Keith (with the black regal) sent you. He owes me a few favors.

Those guys are great, place looks wrecked, but they are some good old school workers, fully certified, warrenty repair shop.

He has a Volvo, I think the only place that works on them is Off Whore. You might get lucky, since it's not a warrenty issue.

I appreciate everyone response.

I would up taking it to Bob Bradleys Marine Service (www.vegasboatrepair.com) yesterday afternoon. He let me know that my power steering belt broke.

I'll add another note when he finishes the work and let you know how his service is.

Thanks again.

He had a cancellation yesterday, otherwise it was 3-4 weeks out.
