Well, I guess maybe I need to start checking this thing over a bit more. Timing, no idea; fuel mix - too rich, I know there is more on the table. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Lookey what I found tonight...I think this might be worth something. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Pretty sure at WOT, the butterflies are supposed to be all the way open. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I had an old Merc Tower of Power 6 cylinder. If I remember right it had 3 2 barrel carbs. Each barrell had its own jetting screws. It was a pain to adjust the butterflys, really a pain when you broke out the vacuum gauges. Man, you are gonna have some fun. But always good in the quest of speed!!

It wouldn't be worth doing if it wasn't fun!

Speaking of the Tower of Power motors, ya know the nastiest one Merc ever built was called the T2x. 99 cubic inch inline 6, ~200 prop HP. Full factory race motor.

My dad has 3 for his project Allison boat. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

If it is any help Keith, I have the factory manual. Just let me know if you need any numbers from a "stocker".. It looks like a ton of fun, picture 24 carbs WOT on the back of mine.. can't wait!

I think they are suppose to be a little on the closed side. Might want to check the manual for throttle positioning opening. I saw this many times as a certified outboard mech and said wow I can get more out of it but ended up going back to factory specs as the motor/s had a serious BOG and was lagging power. Its been a while and I might be wrong. then again on the 225 johnsons I had they only ran 6000 and after throttle adj I got 6200 out of them. I also gave the motor cover a vent http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (more air)
