One more. Larry almost lost this puppy http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif He was approaching 100 mph and had it aired out too far and it started hopping!

well we did make it there but got in the water too late to find donnie and his crew. i did see them twice in the channel and we yelled back and forth for a couple of seconds. the last i saw them they were headed out in donnie's boat not to long before sun down. i tried to catch them on there way back in couldn't find them. sorry i missed you guys http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif i really wanted to get together and talk boats. donnie, did you guys come back for the parade? if so, where did you park. we were parked on the south end of the channel next to a 34ft magic v-bottom (it was dwayne and sue's boat, his screen name is bohica, and their friend kelly). hey craig, what kind of tunnel is the one that's all bent out of shape? sunday we hit the water again and cruised down to the parker dam. i saw 78+ on the speedo. the boat has an annoying porpoise starting at about 60. can anyone tell me how to get rid of it? i took a ton of picks that i'll post as soon as i figure out how to download them out my camera.

We really didn't see much of the parade http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif We went out ot dinner and by the time we got back to the room it was about over. We were staying at Queens Bay, right next to the London Bridge Resort. We could see the channel right off our 4th floor balconey. The boat out of shape is a 22' Daytona with about a 900 horse motor. Here's a better shot of it. We're going to try and get back up to Havasu in March to put a bigger prop on Donnies boat and try out my soon to come drive http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

This is typical of an air entrapment hull. There will be some speed where the boat is generating aerodynamic lift, but not enough to pack the tunnels and run. My STV does this from about 68-76mph.

The trick is to power through it. If you know it happens from 60-65 say, then just power past 60 to 67 or whatever. Either run below it or above it.

I have found that some positive trim will bring the bow up and stuff more air, but my boat is light and responds quickly to trim...you might not find that. You could TRY trimming down to see if the negative trim will force the nose down to limit the airflow into the tunnels, but it may not work.

Rude235, your boat looks like a single step hull. Those have the porpoise trait, but are faster then the double step 25 that doesn't porpoise as much.Like Keith said, drive through it (if you have the power) Another thing that helped my Advantage as well as Donnies Daytona was a set of fixed tunnel tabs such as these.

thanx for the advice guys. i do have the fixed tabs but it still does it. i'm trying to hook up with somebody with a boat similar to mine out on the water ([B]BEACHBUM) to see if they can tell me if it's something i'm doing wrong although it doesn't sound like it is. do i need to worry about it blowing over while it's hoping like that if i happen to catch a gust of wind or crazy wave or something? craig, if you happen to read my post from another topic i do have a pic of larry's boat. although he is going much, much slower in my pic http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif . is his boat trimmed out to much in the second pic you posted of him or is that what they are supposed to look like when they are flying right?

Rude,
Take a straight edge ruler to your tabs, make sure they are completely level with the bottom then adjust them down about a quarter inch. Measure right in the middle or where the metal meets the fiberglass. Thats a good starting point to work with. Mine likes about a half inch down.
Mine porpoises from about 60 to 70 http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif Â*Just have to get more power to drive thru it http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

that sounds like a plan. although i'm not sure when the next time is that i'll be able to check and see how well it worked http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif if mine stops porpoising at 70, that should be ok since i'll have a at least a few miles an hour to play with above that.

There's some justification for the blower, "gee honey, sweetheart, you know, if we have more power, then I can power through the porpoising!!" http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif Then there's the famous, "Oh and also sweetie, we'll get much better gas mileage at cruising speeds!!" http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

You blower guys crack me up!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
