I just got this email today, what do you guys think, then I'll share my response...
Dear Greg:
I recently saw your website when I was doing some research. I am writing on behalf of the show Insomniac with Dave Attell on Comedy Central. It is a documentary-style travelogue program and we are coming to film in Las Vegas from January 8-11th. We were interested in possibly filming a party boat type situation on Lake Mead (during the night hours- hence the name Insomniac) and I was wondering if you had any suggestions. I would appreciate any help you could give me on this topic, or who best to contact about it. I have not contacted the Lake Mead Marina yet, but was going to soon. Thought I would try you guys first.
You can contact me via email or at ...
blah blah blah, I cut the rest.

They will have to change the name to infrozeiac. It's freaking cold on the lake at night Jan 8th.

Man, if only we could have open flame (read big-fucking bon fire) out on the lake, that would be cool!
OK, so who else has a generator and an electric heater?
first things first, you can count me on a big party out at the lake. but i'm not sure how to keep from loosing digits due to frost bite http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/stare.gif what made them think of boating in the middle of january? they need to re-think it a bit and try lake havasu sometime around sssssaaaayyyyyyyy.......JULY 4TH http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I told her if she made a small donation to LVHB we could supply her transportation around the lake and some scenery, but I also told her it's freakin' cold and that she should wait for late spring and we'd tear it up then http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
We'll see what she says.
BTW, I also told her don't even bother with the marina, they'll just laugh at her http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I've watched that show the guy is always out in the cold. He's been in Canada a lot. He basicly goes to bars gets wasted and hangs with people.
Pretty cool if you ask me. I'm down for the trip http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I told her no dice though, we'd never get people out there at night to party, but hmmmm, what if I gave everyone 50$ to show up at sandy??/ Maybe they can give me some duckets http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Just got me wondering how hard would it be to put a heater in a boat?? Kind of like the ones that are used in a car.
i was just thinking the same thing today. i know it's possible 'cause tournament ski boats have them (at least some of them do) i wouldn't think it would be too difficult to run some vents to the cockpit from the engine.

I'm just going to fit my Bassetts with some 180's and pipe the exhaust back up under the seats. Of course after I turn off the water injection.
Did they say they'll supply the necessary firewood and beer? $50 per person would probably be cheaper... then again, with this crowd $100 per person and travel expenses would probably be cheaper. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'd be down...would just want to go out once before then and mark all the rocks with the GPS. I've done Parker at night, and with a moon it's OK. If there is cloud cover or no moon, it's just pitch black. You want to know where you're going.

I'm finding out if we can make it a saturday, don't know yet.
I imagine the rangers would be all over us though, Mid Jan, film crew at night, blah blah blah - no drinking and driving, for sure.
I thought we could start a huge bonfire http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

That time of year you can usually rent a houseboat and use it as a hotel room i.e. no taking it out on the lake. We did that a few years ago for New Years at Callville. Go out on the boats for awhile, then head in, tie up to the house boat and party there till the sun comes up!
STV_Keith

Now THAT would be bitchen. I wonder if we could rent one of the bigger ones that sleeps 10, for the weekend only. We could tie it up at Sandy or some other place and use that as "home base" for the night. That way we could be on the water, yet inside where it's warm. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

How fast do you think the Rainbow Warrior would burn to the waterline? Â*

OK, How much for the weekend or day with the houseboat? I think we put it at Sandy Beach, start a bonfire, hammer it and have a good time! No one drives or boats drunk and we just chill.
It would be the first annual LVHB freeze your nuts off regatta http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I don't want to see the t-shirts for that event.
Now, having spent a winter working on the road between Henderscum and Las Vegas Bay (I think that's what it was), I know how cold that place gets. It's unreal. I'd go so far as to call it bone chilling, especially right down on the water.
a 56' houseboat would run $995 for a 3day 2 night weekend. i can get 25% off until the end of '02 but they may extend the offer if we asked nice. i don't have any idea on availability though.

Jordy, you and I need to have a little talk! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif No way a guy with a lime green boat is going to make fun of my rainbow warrior! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Dude, we are the only two guys on here with Schiadas, were supposed to be on the same team!!
I'd go, kind of depends on what weekend though. December is pretty much a no go, unless it's Saturday the 21st. I just pack on the layers, and put in the floor heater with the cig. adapter. Toasty!!

That would be Disco Pimp Metallic Lime Green (it's actually a little darker than lime) and with any luck it won't be in my stable for too much longer.
RL, you know I wouldn't have said anything but it has been quite a long time since anyone has brought up the gel coat on the Rainbow Warrior, so it was kind of like a tension breaker. Yeah, that's it. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I don't care! I'm not crazy about the gel either. I was hoping on having the whole boat redone soon, but as my luck has it, the money needs to go elsewhere right now http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif So it will remain the Rainbow Warrior for yet another season.
