No, not for drugs! Kevin and I are working on putting my 2.4 back together and we need to balance the rods and pistons down to grams. The scale he has only goes to a tenth of an ounce.

Anyone? Thanks. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If you have a scale that will weigh 1/10th of an ounce, you don’t need a scale capable of weighing grams. You can use your scale and elementary math using the following information:

Avoir dupois - a weighing system where one-ounce avoirdupois equals 28 grammes. There are 16 ounces avoirdupois to the pound (weight).

(1) Gram = 0.035714285714285714285714285714286 Ounce, as you know it. Therefore, a scale capable of weighing 1/10th on an ounce is also capable of weighing (2.8) Grams. When you factor in the mean weight; (-1.4 / 0 /+1.4) = 2.8, the scale which you have is capable of weighing as little as (1.4) grammes, which should be close enough.

Do you have anymore questions?

Ken

On the other hand, I used the bathroom scale when I built my Big-Block, which could account for that nasty vibration.

I've got a few that I have confiscated at work. The only worry is I might face federal charges by shipping them across state lines with the type of residue they have on them. Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

The problem with THOSE scales are that they can't measure the total weight of the rods! What he needs is a scale whose capacity is large enough to measure the weight of a rod or piston but to be accurate enough to distinguish +/-1/2 gram. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Well, we went ahead and used the scale we had. The total assemblies (rod, piston, wrist pin, big and small end bearings) weighed 2# 5oz each.

Hopefully it will be back together by the first weekend in Dec.

good luck dude! i can't wait to see that thing running. what kind of hp do you think it'll put out at the prop? are you going to have enough to hit the 100mph mark?

The guy that did the block work estimates 280hp at the prop - about 40 more than I had before. Estimates according to other STV's with similar HP are 110-120mph.

Yee Haa!
