we are looking for a great shop in vegas, where can my friend and i take our boats for high perf. work, and somewhere that can keep and store a 33' and a 38' boat while work is being done. Â*i heard of a shop around valley view south of russel, any ideas and help would be great. Â*please post replies or call robert at 683-7656. Jimmy at Nevada Boats moved from off of Russell & BH, same phone number, I'll find out this week where he moved to when I go in for service...

Good mechanics are hard to find in Vegas, defined as those that do quality work and stand behind their work while not screwing with the rest of your boat as the work is performed ...

Dunsmore Marine in Boulder City is good ... you can also rely on Panic Button's advice ... many of us have been through the proverbial mill with some of the more visible shops in town.

PM one of us and we can tell you who to stay away from and why.

For Hi Perf stuff I agree that Dunsmore is the man in Boulder City.

I used Dunsmore before and was very happy with them. Storage is a problem there though. When he worked on my boat, there was no place to put it overnight unless it was just outside.

I would make sure he has room first.

Didn't this place close due to the winds last year? I remember there was one place in BC that got hit bad last year.

I was at Dunsmore yesterday, they have always been open. The place that was damaged by the wind was All Seasons Marine, but they re-opened shortly after the damage occured. Both Dunsmore and All Seasons are very good.

I keep my boat in Storage Plus, a couple hundred hards down the road from Dunsmore ... they just expanded and have some nice covered spaces open ... Dunsmore is good about getting your boat and returning, and keep it spotless after the work is done ...

What did he do to the drives? The dealings I had with them the price was fair and the service was delivered on time. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/chin_scratch.gif

I said it and I'll say it again...
I personally had good service from OFFSHORE MARINE

The boat shop that screwed me around was Dry Dock...They had my pontoon for most of the summer in 03 http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cussing.gif

Yep... It was only a matter of time.

Just for the record...Absolute Speed and Marine in LHC is my shop of choice, but the question was asking about Las Vegas boat shops.

I know there are a few people on the board that have had a problem with a shop in Vegas charging for work done and it not being done, new parts and getting used parts, etc. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif It's a crap shoot

thats very unfortunate, and wrong on many levels...on a case like that I would hope whoever that "shop" is takes care of their problem...
Can't stay in business like that...

On the other side of that, is it possible that these customer stories are a little blown out of proportion? Typically there are 3 sides to a story, with the truth being somewhere in the middle. For example yesterday I had a customer in here with a 98 Oldsmobile, approx 20,000 miles...he declined any recommended maintenances (except oil change), allowed his dog to piss all over my service drive and MY booth area while writing him up, then proceeded to raise holy hell when his oil change was done that we had not pointed out to him that his front spoiler was missing a retainer. I mean screaming at me in the drive, at my service manager, asking for the GM, really making a scene... http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asshole2.gif

I'm a pretty reasonable guy, never yell or scream or piss on someone's leg, try to give the benefit of the doubt until I can't any more, and only want decent service for a fair price and folks to do what they say they will ... when I have nothing good to say, best to say nothing ...

If you want my .02 on Offshore, then talk to me in person ...

I have gotten to the point that when I go somewhere for service I let them know my expectations up front. I may seem like an asshole but that is OK. But I seem to get better service that way. Works REAL good at desert volkswagen.
