The OSHA day from hell......

Well,, Friday the 13th visited me with a vengence today....

Had 2 sheetrockers up in a scissor lift hanging rock. They had been told as recently as Tuesday in our safety meeting that the lift needed to be lowered before moving it. They evidently thought they were exempt.

24 ft up, they are cruising along and hit a 3" hole in the floor,,, Over goes the lift with them in it. One broken arm, One bruised lung, and a broken pelvis between the 2 of them.

To top it off,, I start running to the jobsite office to call 911, and I take a tumble, trashing my ankle. Hence the response to the Who's Drinking thread,,, Vicodin and Whiskey,, what a combo...

Nice. As soon as they get back to work I'd fire them! Hope the ankle is feeling better soon.

Well, they did receive the pre-emptive If you fall, your fired before you hit the ground speech....

Looks like I'll be hitting the Doc in the morning,,, damned thing is all swollen up. Cant even chase Mary around the house....

Wow, sorry to hear about your Friday!!!

I must have a little dyslexia, cause when I started reading the thread, I was trying to figure out what in the hell a treeshocker was... LOL!

I'm guessing it was not pretty watching a scissor lift fall over like that. Glad that no one was killed, thought the broken pelvis sounds painful.... OUCH!

I hate it when that happens! I wonder if those guys will pay more attention in your safety meetings from now on....that is, if you ever let them on your jobsite again!
