OK,, we are going to start putting out feelers for dates for the next upcoming party.... Sooner the better for those that require long term planning.

I'm proposing August 3-7. That runs from Thursday till Monday. Pretty much the same plans as last year. If anyone wants to extend, we will probably be out the entire week before.

Let's get some input here http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/beerchug.gif

I support that idea! This year I want to be there for the entire week.

Hoping to also be there the week of July 4th.

Kevin won't be able to go... I'll say that we'll go, but then end up having to cancel. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Plan the dates KC, and I'll sure try to make it. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

Not until August!!! Damn - 4th of July works for us - still have no committment from friends on houseboat week so we probably have to do it ourselves. Sooner you set a date the better chances we get a houseboat remted

With all the regattas and OP6 things going on in June and July, I figured this weekend would work the best for the majority of the people.

Now we can alway put on a more cozy 8-10 boat trip anytime...

Not sure about OP^ or other regattas I just want to try our new fresh ICE CREAM maker on the lake http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/party.gif So far a vanilla, bailey's and vodka make a real nice shake:beerchug and of course we never get our fill of Powell, especially after last years minor problems.

If we didn't already have commitments on NYE we would be there.

We been there twice towing a boat and generally you acan count on 10 hours from Lake Elsinore which should be about the same for you. If of course you don't leave during friday night traffic, add an extra hour or 2 just to get out of town. Last time we had lots of time so we spent a few days in Havasu which is pretty much half way. After Havsu the driving gets really nice AZ roads to Powell are nice and smooth and even truckers do 75+ - I think the offical speed limit is 70 and yes thats with trailers - not like CA's 55

Well worth the trip, and makes the drive home even longer - plan extra time for that one.

If you go we can caravan up there maybe hookup with KC in LHC.

From vegas would it be worth it to go over to flagg and then up, to get better roads. Or would it be better to go through kanab and up and suffer with not so great roads ?
I have been both ways but dont remember how much time diff there is, plus everytime I have been there I have not been able to take my boat. My wife grew up in page so we have been up there quite a few times but I have never had my boat on powell so I think this might be a good time to go and check it out. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/beerchug.gif

The Flagstaff route will take you like 7 hours where the Kanab route from Vegas takes 5 towing... The road is in pretty good shape too.

We been there twice towing a boat and generally you acan count on 10 hours from Lake Elsinore which should be about the same for you. Â*If of course you don't leave during friday night traffic, add an extra hour or 2 just to get out of town. Â*Last time we had lots of time so we spent a few days in Havasu which is pretty much half way. Â*After Havsu the driving gets really nice AZ roads to Powell are nice and smooth and even truckers do 75+ - I think the offical speed limit is 70 and yes thats with trailers - not like CA's 55

Well worth the trip, and makes the drive home even longer - plan extra time for that one.

If you go we can caravan up there maybe hookup with KC in LHC.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>
Wow.......I didn't realize it was about 10hours. Its a good thing their planning it early. I will definately have to take a couple more days off for driving time, especially since my boat is stored in LHC.

Going from CA to Page, Lake Havasu makes a great place to spend the night....

Usually arrive in Havasu around 8pm, pack last minute items and some consumables. Then we leave the house about 3am, placing us into the Safeway parking lot in Flagstaff about 6:30am for breakfast. Continue on to Page, buy fuel for the boat and launch about 10am.

Well, evidently TnB's idea of combining the Powellfest and the Regatta isn't getting rave reviews,,, I'm going to say lets stick with the Aug 3-7th dealio with us and anyone else that wants to extend heading out on July 29th. That way people who want to can spend like 10 days out there. Definately worth the drive then.

Camping isn't a requirement,, however,, if you don't, you miss out on all the after hour festivities (drunk chicks on tramps and such).

We put a houseboat on the beach last year and it worked great last year. This way thre were bathrooms, showers, and cooking accomodations for everyone.

Not sure yet if we are going to be able to provide a houseboat free of charge again, but we'll see.

It's definately a trip you won't forget...

roln, camp is usually bout 25 miles of twists and turns up lake from the dock. You dont want to be making the run after dark or missing any fun, so I say camping is manditory.

PAGE -- It's all right by Lake Powell watchers that winter weather systems have bounced north off the Arizona-Utah line this winter so far.
A series of snowstorms in the Rockies is expected to melt into near-normal inflow into the lake this spring. That is good news for tourist-sensitive communities like Page, at the southern end of Powell.
Precipitation reported at Navajo Generating Station just east of Page since September is only 43 percent of average. But snowpack in the Colorado River's Upper Basin in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico was reported Monday morning at 103 percent of average. Precipitation in the area drained by Lake Powell above Glen Canyon Dam was 115 percent of average from Oct. 1 through early January, said the Bureau of Reclamation.
"The distribution of snow in the basin varies greatly by geographical location," said Tom Ryan in a Jan. 4 report posted on the BOR Web site.

"Snowpack in the San Juan River basin, for instance, is only 35 percent of average, while snowpack in the Yampa and Colorado River headwaters is about 140 percent of average."
Half a decade of drought lowered the lake last April to a surface elevation of 3,555 feet above sea level, its lowest point in 36 years. Heavy inflow from a dent in the drought last spring raised it 55 feet, and Page businesses are hoping the lake will continue to build this spring.
Ryan said unregulated inflow April through July is forecast for 8.5 million acre-feet, or 107 percent of average. The lake is in the midst of its annual winter drop and was measured last Thursday at 3,598 feet. It should fall to 3,592 by April 1.
The Bureau has projected the lake to top out at 3,632 feet in July, deep enough to allow the Castle Rock Cut at Wahweap Bay to open for the first time in nearly four years. The cut needs about 3,620 feet to permit boats to pass through.
"I heard some people plan to camp out and party as the water in each bay rises to meet each other," said Paul Ostapuk, a spokesman for Page-based Friends of Lake Powell.
In the meantime, locals will be watching for snowpack reports and weather radar from places like Estes Park, Colo., and Green River, Wyo.
