break-in for 500efi [Archive]

i need some ideas (as detailed as possible) on what's the best approach to breaking in a 500efi. will i hurt it by running at one speed for to long, should i avoid WOT for the first 20 hours, when do i need to change the oil, etc etc........

Well, since I have put 2 motors in my boat in the last year....hmmm, that doesn't sound to good does it? (It wasn't my fault http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif ) Anyways, this is what I have been told by my builder....

For the first 10 hours, do not go one speed for more than 5 minutes at a time. It is ok to a quick burst at WOT, just for a second or so. Change oil after 10 hours. After the initial 10 hours...your good to go. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
