Marina Moving to New Location
Email story to a friend
(Sept. 23) -- The Las Vegas Bay Marina is being uprooted to move to a new location. The first piece of the marina was moved Monday, 18 miles across the lake to its new home at Horsepower Cove.
It's being moved because of the low water level at Lake Mead and because of silt pouring into the bay from the Las Vegas Wash.
"We've been here through lower water than this," said Gail Kayser, Las Vegas Bay Marina operator. "We would stay here and move out with the water if it was just low water. But unfortunately, land is moving at us, moving faster than the water is
More pieces of the Las Vegas Bay Marina will be moved over the next month. It's costing more than a million dollars to move it to Horsepower Cove
