Hey all. Well I love being back home in California , but I found out today what I really loved about living in Vegas.......being so close to Lake Mead. We took the boat out today for the first time this season and since we're in So. Cal now we went to Lake Castaic. Last year we were at Mead just about every weekend, now we are forced to go to Castaic for just a day trip. There are so many cops out, no beer drinking , and we saw a cop yelling at this guys (a grown man) cause he was swimming with out a life vest on. What a crap hole!!!!! But we'll be at the river for Memorial Day then BlueWater June 3-5 so there are some decent boating places to look forward to.

Yeah....we live 10 minutes from Castaic and the boat hasn't been in the water there since the HTM accident. I never liked that lake. Too small for serious boating. More a float and soak type of place. It would be better to leave it to the fishermen and PWC's so that they aren't around us.

Completely agree about the So. Cal lakes. I have Puddingstone(Puddlestone) in my backyard. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Wish I was only an hour to Mead....

Where is Buena Vista BTW?? Further north of you? How far? That's the place you like to take the 'toon, right?

Buena Vista is to the west of Bakersfield. It is about a 10 ft. deep oval. Might as well go to Isabella if you are gonna drive that far however the sight seeing might not be as good.

I didn't like Isabella for all the hazards in the water...

Yeah, Buena Vista is 6-10' deep basically rectangle shaped little lake (Think Indianapolis Motor Speedway with the campground being the start/finish line) but we've had some great times there http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinbounce2.gif

Adam Casitas outside of Ojai is usually where we do the pontoon... they're the ones with the length limit...

I take the 29' to Buena Vista http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif Gotcha!.. Bakersfield sounds like a long drive for me?? Oh well.. I'm liking the sound of the Pacific Ocean more and more lately for when I can't get out to Colorado river.... I hear it cleans up SS props really well also, gonna have to try it out.

If you live in the SF valley, Ventura County, SCV you might as well make the drive to Naci or San Antonio. These places are about 3 hours away, but I'd rather drive the extra hour or two to have access to a bigger lake. Had issue's at Castaic with speeding 45 MPH, that's not speeding to me, Buena is the same way, and only worth it on the week days. At least at Naci & San Antonio the lakes are at least 15 miles long. and Naci has a ton of coves that are pretty long and secluded.

IMO

Dan, we also had a great time at that mudhole however don't think I'd go back. In fact unless it's Shasta I don't believe my boat will see California water oh unless I am at Havasu.
