Hello,
I want to introduce myself and my company to Las Vegas Hot Boat members. I own Throttle Up Propellers, a Prop Shop located in Largo, FL. We specialize in High Performance Boating applications. Servicing many boats in the APBA and the SBI. We provide sales and services to meet most clients propeller needs. And I have a feeling that we have one thing in common...the need for speed! So at any rate I just wanted you to know that I watch this forum daily and would like to offer any advice that may be needed in reference to your prop needs. Check out our wbe-site at www.throttle-up.com there are so great pictures of our race teams!
Looking forward to speaking with you!

Thank you for introducing your company Julie. I'm in the process of selecting a prop for a brand new boat with a hand built custom racing motor.

Tom...look at the date of Julie's post...9/24/2002
You can write to her at info@throttle-up.com. They're good people and she will answer promptly.
I'd guess if you have 1.5 ratio in the drive you might need to start with a 30P Bravo 1. Some testing will be necessary to find the right prop. I know the Bullet with a stock HP525 and a 27P labbed Bravo 1 went 80.3 for Powerboat in Parker. I think with another 200 HP (do I remember correctly 720HP Pfaff?) you should be able to easily pull the 30P - maybe a labbed 32P?
Can't wait to hear the details.

We're starting with a 28P Bravo 1 to make sure I have a hole shot. I'm guessing a 30lab will be the one. It would be killer if I could get a 30 regular to work at both ends, but that's alot of prop. Gary Taylor uses 32 labs on his monster hp applications. And then there's Hydromotive Engineering.

Tom, if you are storing in Boulder City and boating in Mead you need to talk to Kevin at R&R prop in Henderson. He will work with you until you get what you need.

I can't believe that 1" in pitch between the HP525 and your Pfaff 720 HP motor. The 27P was labbed.
Assuming a 5,400 RPM limit, 1.5 gear in the drive and a 28 pitch prop that would get you 85 MPH with 10% slip. Same assumptions and 30P = 92 MPH.
What ratio is Gary running...1.5 or 1.3? I'd bet Gary is running 1.3. 5,500 w/ 1.3 gear and 32P = 115 @ 10% slip.

Looks like 95-97 MPH for the Red Rocket! 4800-5000# = 95-97.

Next week Howard is finishing the 28 OB bullet for me. I have no idea what prop to get for the boat. Can anyone make any recc's? Here are the basics: 496 MAG HO with CMI headers and pipes. Rumored to take the HP to 485 (60HP above the basic HO package) 1.5 gear ratio.
Boat weighs 4500 lbs dry. Assume total weight with 80 gals of fuel and people / gear is 5686 lbs.
Ideally looking for both hole shot and top end. Want to be able to pull skier out of water but not lose top end?http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
Any input would be appreciated. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

We have the 28 Bullet with a 525 and are pulling the 26P Bravo I 4 blade just fine. I'd think you'd want start with the 24P Bravo 1 to start. With upgrades such as the CMI's and a little more the 26P would be the right choice.
When is it due? I live about 5 minutes from Howard so if you want any pics let me know.

That voids the Merc warranty immediately, right?

technically yes - but bob teague is doing the install and they provide a 1 year warranty if they do the install and future service. Â*That is fine as I am in Sherman Oaks. Â*Absolute Speed and Marine can do the services in Havasu as well.
Thanks for the recc on the prop. Â*Will test a couple of them when it is done. Â*Here is a photo of the engine. Â*It is painful waiting for this thing to be completed. Â*I want to be out on the water now.
