Unlike LM1 I am looking at moving and I am looking for a little information. The company I am currently working for has an opening in Chandler, AZ that I am applying for it. Here are the questions that I have.
1. How long of a drive is it to Mead, Mohave, Powell, Havasu?
2. What areas would you recommend as far as housing?
3. What other Tech companies are located in Phoenix area?
Thanks

I am a Mechanical designer and I am currently working for Intel in Thousand Oaks, CA. I am trying hard not to be 1 of 4000 employees that they are going to lay off.

Well I can offer you a little on 1 & 2.
Havasu is about a 3 hr tow from the West side of the valley (Peoria/Glendale). Lake Powell will probably be a 5-6 hr tow from the valley. Mead probably about 5, not sure though.
There are a lot of new areas of development in the West and North valley areas. There are A LOT of subdivisions to look at in the Phoenix area. It's really growing.
You should be within an hour of Lake Pleasant anywhere in the Valley and a lot closer if you live on the West or North sides. Lake Pleasant is a pretty good size lake, perfect for a day trip. You'll see lots of hot boats there and large raft-ups in Humbug Wash. During the week it is fantastic for skiing and not crowded at all. Weekends are pretty much the partying days with A LOT of boat traffic.
Lots of locals don't really like Lake Pleasant but, I grew up going to Pyramid and Castaic so, it's a nice lake to me.
Good luck with your move, also maybe try some of the other boards, there are quite a few people from Phx. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I knew BRad would pipe in here, being our resident AZ guy.
I think Phoenix from Vegas is about a 5 to 6 hour drive.

There's all kinds of housing available on that side of town, new and used. The whole valley is in a building boom as Brad said. Brads correct on the Havasu time. I'm on the NW side and can be in Havasu in Â*2hrs. 45 min doing 75 on I-10 and 65 from Vicksburg on. Without a trailer you can be in Powell in 4 hours, add an hour with a boat, unless you drive like a nut Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif Â* Mohave is about 4 hours, Mead is about 5 hours. Drop me a line if you need more info.
