Planning our first trip to Lake Mead in Mid June. Not sure which part of the lake to launch out of and where to stay since we will not be house boating. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

A couple of questions to help give you a decent answer. What size boat are you taking? Are you going to camp or do you want a hotel?

The North part of the lake is calmer, launching out of Echo, Callville are the best, the lower marinas are closer to Vegas, but expect a wait on the weekends. No real hotels on the lake, Echo has a small hotel, but thats it. The south end of the lake is close to casinos in Henderson so it would take 20 minutes to drive from there. The south end of the lake has a lot of traffic, jet skiers, and novice boaters.

Thanks for the comments. Â*We'll be with a small boat (21' ski boat) and don't plan to camp so we need a place to stay. Â*Since we expect we'll be somewhat captive to where we stay, does Echo Bay or Temple Bar have better lodging and food? Â*Also since the water level is down should we lean towards one arm or the other?

Appreciate the help!

i would stay at echo. the hotel is nice enough and since your boat is under 24 ft you could get a slip and leave your ride in the water. they also accept pets and have lake view rooms. the launch ramp is in good shape is rarely busy. that part of the lake also tends to be much calmer.
