hot rod run

i saw in the calender that sometime in oct. there is a "hot rod run" at lake mead. has anyone been to one of these or tell me what it is?

I've never been to that one inparticlar, but usually they put on events where Hot Rodders (cars) drive from Vegas out to the lake for a day of picnics, games, and showing off their rides, then back to Vegas for dinner. Usually it's a fund raiser. These and the Harley runs are where we boaters got our Regattas and Poker Runs from.

Chris at PokerRunsWest told me they were still doing their fall run here, I think he said it's the first weekend in Nov. Should be fun!

I don't know about the hot rods run though, any other info?

i did a little digging on the "hot rod run". YOU CAN COUNT ME IN ON THIS ONE (well maybe)! from what i can gather this is the poker run that will bring out the big dogs. it's being held in conjuction with the SEMA show that's held here annualy. i don't know if it's an open poker run where anyone can by their way in and if it is, it sounds like it may a bit on the EXPENSIVE side. if that's the case, i'll at least make sure i'm on the water to see these nasty boats that are supposedly going to be there. anyone else have any more info? if i remember right it's going to be held from oct. 31 to nov. 4, or something like that.

I had meant the poker run. If its going to be that last week in Oct. sounds good to me. I will have to book a flight for that weekend. Hope to see you all there

From my digging here is what I have found.
-The poker run is limited to 50 boats. It looks like the faster boats are run around 130 - 140mph.
-Saturdays start is at Callville Bay Marina, then to Temple Bar then do Echo Bay then to a Beach.

I would like to go and watch but I am not sure where a good spot would be to watch.

that's what i was thinking to, just to chill and watch but i don't know where to watch from either. i know where callville and echo is (i think) but i have no idea where temple bar is. it they are going from calliville to echo, maybe sitting just outside the narrows or something? although the big dogs may not be running to fast at that point.
