My 88 had a Competitive trailer and I know that Extreme got the gig somewhere in the 90's. How in the hell did I end up with a "Roadrunner" trailer on my 98?

It says "CUSTOM trailer for ELIMINATOR boats" on the frame. It also says Roadrunner is from Texas and I know this boat was originally from Texas. Do you think that when Eliminator ships their boats out to Texas, they send 'em all out there on those special flat bed trailers (3-4 at a time ) without trailers and have the Texas dealers get their own trailers?

Probably not a big deal, just curious...

Yep...they probably just ship the boat out there to their dealer and let him figure out what to do with the trailer. I wouldn't worry about it too much....as long as it get you to the water.

My '95 came with a Trail-rite trailer. Still gets me to the water. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif

Yeah, I never really put too much stock in the trailer as long as it holds up and is maintained. But I always see "...Extreme trailer" as a selling point for many Elim ads. What's the big deal w/ Extreme?

Extreme is just an overpriced trailer. They are all about the same in my eyes. Extreme just seems to do more custom things...but I am sure that you pay for it.

My Extreme is less rickity than my competitive was. But, my competitive pulled better since it had triples. I like my Extreme best since it has a ton of newer stuff, but its only a friggen trailer.

Looking at an Extreme trailer versus a Zieman you can really notice the details. Also, customer service after the fact has been very pleasant to deal with Extreme. I had a Buddy Bearing fail two years after I bought the boat and trailer. Called Extreme and they sent me 4 even though only one went bad. No charge. No hassle. No questions. Great customer service.

My .02 on trailers ... I would not go with a Zieman no matter what ... consistent problems with them from quality of construction to customer service. I had to have Offshore replace all the bunks and carpet after one season as the wood was cheap and untreated pine and the carpets wore out immediately. They also put really cheap tires on the trailer and after 8-900 miles wore out completely. When I went back to them on the tires I had to threaten with the BBB and Small Claims Court to get satisfaction and replacement. I essentially replaced them myself with quality and then extracted the money from them. I still go to them when I need a part, but my understanding from a last conversation with the office in Havasu was that the actual plant that builds the trailers was closing up in Havasu and all would be shipped from another location, but perhaps parts would still be available locally ... they have their problems to be sure. Extreme on the other hand is way too pricey in my mind but builds a quality product and stands behind it.

Quality is really what it comes down to, and I found Ziemans quality sucks, from from the quality of paint to the routing of the electrical. Sure you will pay more for an Extreme but the quality is much better and the customer service is much greater , but remeber it was not to long ago that Extreme was considered one of the cheapest trailers around, so they have had to overcome many issues , and my opinion they have done this
just my .02

Did I forget to mention paint? ... oh yeah, when I go to wax the trailer the frickin Zieman paint job rubs off and the excess wax turns blue.

Have you dragged around an Extreme? Every trailer I've towed couldn't hold a candle to my Extreme.

Ask Havasu Dreamin' what he thinks of his Zieman.

yeah I've heard their deal with the trailer with the ladder and all that....

I'm not saying I think its a great trailer either, its not, but it tows BITCHIN' http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif
Mine is chipped, couple little rusty looking areas (its dunked in salt OFTEN), couple running lights that don't work...I just look at it and say, "Hey what do you want its a Zieman"

Nonetheless, it tows straight, tracks nice, and carries the boat to the water, I think that was the main purpose of it...

Zieman sucks a$$! they phucked up our trailer from the beginning. The only saving grace is we only tow it around LHC and the occassional trip to Mohave. If we had it to do over again, we would have paid the extra dough for the Extreme and it would have been done right from the beginning. Towing-wise it is fine. But the quality is definitely not up to par with the Extreme.

We have a C-Tube Zeiman trailer for our 1995 malibu-- granted the boat has nearly a 1000 hours-- so the boat and trailer have definately been used, but the issues we have actually had are: the entire BRAKE system doesn't work. Quality isn't great, I've touched up a few places with paint, rebuild the trailer guide ins (inboards you know) and have replaced just about every light on the trailer...twice. But bottom line, it still gets me to the lake.

However, when I buy my new boat (possibly a Howard-hehe), it will have a very custom trailer- matching rims to my truck (probably 17 or 18s), LEDs, chrome fenders, galvanized paint (for those ocean days when I can run alongside Dan), and some kind of custom license plate. For me...the new trailer will have to be a standout piece of art that has a bad ass boat atop it. But, this is me, I'm young and I'm into the Bling stuff--could you tell?
