I love the sand bar at Havasu, primarily for the scenery that it attracts. Additionaly it is a great place for the dogs to run, the kids to play and to hang out and meet others - probably because it is isolated and easy to get to.

Does anyone know if there is a sandar type spot on Lake Mohave, where it is shallow enough for a LARGE number of boats to congragate and spend the day?

Thanks, KC

Unfortunately no! There are a lot of places, down at the Katherine end of the lake that resemble Havasu, but no sandbar. There are a few inlets like Copper Canyon that get pretty hoppin', and a few large beaches that tend to attract "Channel" type crowds.
I say we all pitch in some money, rent some dump trucks, fill them up with sand from the desert somewhere and make our own sandbar!!!!!!!!!!! Those AHBA kooks couldn't compete with that. "A successful boating club........ has it's own SANDBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

EsSex502 showed me a nice cove with a small island in the middle, it seemed that the entire cove was around three feet deep. Just deep enough to drop anchor and be able to walk around.

Something like that! Yet very large.

KC - That's the closest I've found at Mojave. Around the corner from it is another long cove where there are two "diving" rocks - one about 22' from the water and another I'd guess to be about 40 - 50' high. It also has two sandy beaches that are shallow but usually you'll find houseboats or pontoons beached there. The cove sometimes fills-up with 20 or so boats anchored in the middle watching the folks jump off the rocks. The cove is just north of the one we were at in August. It goes way back into the landscape.

Other than that I haven't found anything better!
