Surgery, it is!

Well, I saw the Orthopedic Surgen today and I have surgery scheduled for next Wed. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/traurig001.gif He told me that I could function without the surgery, but most of my sport activities would have to go. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eek3.gif So I guess I will be getting a short vacation from work. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif More time for posting, though! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinbounce2.gif

At least if I do it now, I will be able to get my boating season in. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/aktion033.gif Won't be able to wakeboard, but I guess it could be worst.

Good luck amigo! This kind of surgery, from what I read, is pretty involved unlike the arthroscopic kind I had on my knee. Take your time and rehabilitate it correctly and don't by any means try to rush it.

Make sure and do whatever the Doc says, I have had 3 knee surgeries. I have learned to listen to the doc. You will probably never be 100% in your mind; I have a really hard time trusting my knee for jumping and stuff without a brace on. I just don't want to risk having to go through surgery again so I just choose my actions a little safer when I think about it.

Due to a work related accident my wife is going through multiple surgeries to both knees and is currently in the "I know it will be really painful and I'm worried" stage ... arthroscopy to clean out and extract a cartelage sample, then open knee surgery where they go in, shave the shin and kneecap bones and re-implant the cartelage that was cultured in a petri dish for a few weeks. Apparently at our age, the new technology allows for cartelage regeneration, however, she will be immobile for 8 weeks with no weight bearing + a motion machine in the home after each open knee operation. Was 6 weeks post arthroscopy on the first knee. She's looking at Jan of '06 before all is finished. First surgery is 3/8, then the rehab ... carrying her in and out of the boat in all probability in April and May.

No positives about surgery at this point....it hurts like hell right now. One good thing that they suggested having was a Femural Nerve Block. I had it done and it really helped for the pain the first day and a half.

Sounds like your wife is having much more done than me so I am not sure what her recovery will be like. Tell her "good luck".

It sounds like the doctor may have made a slight mistake and removed part of the brain , I believe it is called alcoholical lobe , you may want to have that checked.


Hope you are doing well, stay off the knee and recover completley so you wont have any complications later, because you dont want to miss any of the prime boating season.

Doing much better. I am getting around without any brace. Started physical therapy this past Wed.....man was I hurting on Thur. Had pt again today, so we shall see how I feel tomorrow. I go 3 days a week. I have a few more degrees to get my leg straight and about another about another 40 degrees on the bend. Getting there with a lot of pain...but that is what Vicodin is for! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
