I'm looking into buying one and wanted to know if anyone is really into these things. I'm looking at the Nikon Coolpix 5700. Any thoughts?

I am not familiar with that one, but I have had great luck with Sony products in the past, so when I bought my digital camera I went with a Sony. Shoots great pics, has the LCD screen on the back and will even shoot MPEG files if I want to do that. I think these things are the best thing to happen since buttons on a shirt. Good luck Kieth.

I have an Olympus D-460 & love it. It's already alittle outdated, but works great for what I need it for.

Buy a Scan Disk Image Mate USB plug in. You simply plug it into your USB port, & you can drag your file onto your computer in seconds & have a clear disk just like that. It also saves your batteries.

I take my laptop on all my trips just for that. Plus you can sit around the camp fire at night & view the pictures, full screen.

Pretty cool.

Keith,
I just bought a Sony and it rocks. I am pretty naive when it comes to cameras, but since it has been so long since I have purchased a new one I didnt really hold back. Plus the wife wanted one for her B-day.

The only advice I have is get the full warranty since you will be on or near water with it. Mine has full warranty and most manuf. warranties dont cover water damage.

I am unsure about jello shot damgage though?http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif??

Kieth-

Depending on how much you wanna spend and what you wanna do with it will determine which one you will go with. But i would head towards a sony. They are exteremely small. Ifyou only wanna take pictures then sony has a new camera that is only bout a 1/2" thickand smaller than a credit card. Or with mine, its bout 3/4" thick and 1" tall and maybe 2.5" long. I keep it in my pocket anywhere i go, its smaller than a cell phone. It can take about 30mins of video or 2000+ pictures on one memory stick, or a combination of both. Its great to just always have in your pocket, but with extra battery and 128mb memory stick your lookin at $600+ Think ive had the camera for almost 6 months now, taken hundreds of videos and i think im at about 3500 pictures....so to me its worth it. =)

Basically, my entire website i have is done with that camera, tons of pics and videos, ill give youthe address and password for it if you want, sent me a PM.

Here is a pic of me and lake hottie just after the LVHB crew ditched us sat night. =)

Thanks VegasBD. I'm looking at starting a website that will be very picture intensive. I need great looking, clean images. I'm looking at the 5700 because of it's 5MP images, and it's an SLR like camera - very comfortable for longer photo shoots. It runs around $850.

I just bought the Sony P9 off the internet for $490.
$115 less than in the stores. It is a 4 mega-pixel and takes awesome photos. I just sold my Mavica that was 1.6 MP and it it lightyears better in quality.

Go to www.cnet.com for reviews and the best prices. Buy out of state for no sales tax.
