My computer is shuting off on me when I get on the net (dial up). I get cruisin' and it goes blank. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesnt help, I have to kill the power to it and restart. I have cleaned off all the temp internet files, cleaned the history, cache.

WTF is going on here. I need my boards dammit.

Are you sure it's the computer or could it be the monitor? Most of the newer monitors have a green light on when the monitor is on and has a signal from the computer. If the signal is lost, the light turns orange.

I have had my monitor wack out where it just goes off, but the light stays green, so I know it's in the monitor. Check that. Also, it might be the video card and not necessarily the computer. If you have another computer nearby that has a standalone video card, try swapping it in and using that for a while and see if it persists.

if you have a new computer, try doing a "restore" (this restores your computer to an earlier date without deleting any of your data files)....look under help.....if you don't have a new one, reinstall your internet software. You probably deleted something and did not know it...if that does not fix the prob, it might be your modem. Look under help for modem or troubleshooting. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sounds like it's neither the computer nor the modem............ it's the owner http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also sounds like VegasBD could be a good guy to know (especially after that comment made on the other thread about finding someones IP and causing problems on there Mac. I'm not tellin' what kind of computer I'm using http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

Vegas BD,
the good thing is I will probably need your help. The bad thing is this is my home computer and I am cruising at work now. Yes, unlike you friggin' guys I have to work. Its not like I am in Wealth Management or I own yogurt stores and I have millions. DAMN, wrong career choice. I am going back to HS and kickin' my counselors a$$

Thor-

Well the best thing to do is completely format and reinstall everything. Bring it up with you the next time you come upand ill do it up for ya. I just save all your stuff, reformat and intall windows fresh (2000Pro or XP depending on your computer speeds) and put your stuff back on there. Takes a few hours but after that its pretty difficult to mess it up. Ill even throw some extra ram and stuff in there, i got tons of spare parts at my house. Until then, send me and email and ill try and get it goin over the phone.

True, but there is a huge difference in a "Mac Computer" and a "MAC address" i was referring to the MAC address. Explaining it though is way to technical and would really make me look like a geek. Ill save that for when you guys meet me. heheheh

Just shows how computer ILLiterate I am! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif No need for an explanation anyway dude. You could tell me 5 times and I would still say, "so a Mac computer and Mac address are different huh?" http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
