Sounds like everybody is ok with me doing the organizing, so what does everybody want to do? I was thinking poker run, raffle, kids treasure hunt (that will keep them busy for an hour or so), dam run, radar runs http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif I don't want to many things or we won't have time to stand around and talk smack.

Poker run in the morning, 7 card stud. First card drawn at the main beach, community card. Four on the water card stops, then two more community cards drawn at the main beach. Sound alright?

Raffle around noon or so. I think we could raise a lot of dough for the site. If we can get some prizes donated from places like West Marine, Off-Shore(Shane), the boat manufactureers, etc. HD, you have a pretty good in at Essex right? How about asking for a towel or shirt or something, I'm just using HD as a example but others here know peeps in the industry. Also alot of us are business owners that can offer something, I'll donate a load of dirt delivered

http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif DCFive, how about a dozen roses? You guys get my point?

Anybody got a line on a radar gun?

The dam run can be anytime peeps want to go and those that don't, won't.

I would also like to try to get Hot Boat or Family and Performance Boating out there again. That was cool at the first one.

One last idea, I would like to try do a DVD like we had at the first regatta. So if we get enough camcorder footage I can get something put together for everybody to enjoy.

If anybody has any other ideas, changes, suggestions, whatever, let me know.

Oh yeah, we need a name too. Maybe "Meet in the Middle" or something like that cuz of all the give and take that started this? Throw em out there. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/duel.gif

D4$ - Sounds like you are a pro at this! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumb.gif Those are a lot of good ideas. I am sure there will be many more ideas and peeps coming forward to help put this shindig together. I think "Meet in the Middle" would be appropriate. I would not call it a "poker run" though....maybe a scavenger hunt to find some prizes. Others have gotten shut down by putting "poker run" on other boards with authorities.

Cool, that's exactly what I was thinking on the donation thing. And for the companies/persons that donate stuff for the raffle we can list a big thank you page so that they get recognition (advertising) in addition to there name being annouced at the time of the giveaway.

Does Mohave have any "useable" beach? By useable I mean not covered in small gravel. That was really lacking on the prior Mohave events. Which dam run is being suggested, Hoover I imagine. If I recall on the last run some props were damaged.

David - We had a big group last October (2003)...the one with all the jello shots....and we found some really sandy beaches up above Cottonwood. There is a pic around here showing a beach where we had about 25 boats parked at it that was nothing but sand. There are more beaches like that, you just have to find them.

When we all went out in August to Mojave, we spent 2 hours cleaning the beach up, because of all the trash and it still wasn't that good of a beach. There was still crap floating in the area. Just have to be careful and find a clean beach or build a fire to burn all the junk and then camp out on it...

There's hundreds of good sandy beaches on Mojave. We won't decide on one specific beach till closer to the actual date because of changing water conditions, etc. David, I've been up to the dam probably 15 times and have never dinged a prop. The stop was not on the Island. The Island was behind you. All that area is good beach. Just gotta get there early and watch water flow out of Hoover. Usally not a problem in the summer. When water gets low you get all the weeds close to the surface and then mud. When water is normal you can drive between the Island and that little penisula. Nice spot.

I had not been to Vegas for about 6 years before last weekend and for some reason thought Mead was farther away than it is. Â* 3 hours from my door not pulling the boat to Hoover Dam. Â* Â* So this summer we hope to hit Mojave and Mead. Â* Â*Just dont know when.

I am thinking that Mojave on July 30th will melt the last 2 hairs off the top of my head.

You can put in at Willow for Mojave. That's 10 miles before the dam. For Mead you could launch at Temple Bar. Should be a about a three hour tow for either one.

We're planning on crusing up to Laughlin on Friday July 29 from Havasu. Staying at the Flamingo on Friday, most likely Saturday, night as well. We'll be launching from Katherines and heading up from there on Saturday morning. Hopefully all 96 gallons gas will get us up and back, if not, we'll just burn the credit card at Cottonwood! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinbounce2.gif

Yep. Just not sure if we want to spend the $10k to put on the Whipple supercharger. We're not speed demons. Also, if we did do that, I'm sure we would need to add external steering and I would want full hydraulic all the way to the helm.

You shouldn't have any problem with gas if you don't drive all over the lake that day. We used 45 gallons launching from Katherine's, driving up to Willow and back at almost always well over 50 the whole way. Put on nearly 100 miles (GPS) that day - all of it over 4K RPM. While we don't displace as much as the "Good Ship QT" does you should have a problem doing the same.

Ok, went to Mojave today. The water was really high, made it hard to find any beaches with sand. The picture is of the beach I want to use. Normally, there is a flat area of sand for tents and such. On the left side there is a island right now but most times the beach wraps around to the island. If the water drops a couple of feet, this will be a great beach, if it stays high, not so good. I think this is "fire island" as Red Horse calls it. The gps coords are N35*41.391 W114*41.584

I'm not sure what the water elevation was today but hopefully it will come back down to normal. This place is about 14 miles below Willow Beach and about 16 miles above Cottonwood Cove.
