View Full Version : Where to buy a house?
I have been contemplating for some time now.
I have looked in the keys at Parker. Seem very pricy for the location. What is the price difference for 'on the water front"?
RD, any insight. Is it noisy there?
Havasu would probably be my first choice because you are 1/2 hour away from Parker by roadway and 1/2 to the sandbar. YEHHHHHHHHHHHH
And after the regatta, I have found a new friend in Cottonwood. A very quaint place with some really cool people hangin' out there. The beauty is you have the lake at your finger tips and willow only 25 minutes away. Laughlin just over the dam as well.
Any takes on this. I would love to get some pros and cons from some pro's or ex-cons.
Guys,
I see you reading now POST dammit!

Don't move to Fredonia... It's horrible but Powell's only a hour away http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

be certain to buy a large place... so that we have a place to crash! The weekend out of Cottonwood was really nice, I enjoyed those four and five foot rollers on the way home. Way better than the lines and mobs at Katherine's Landing.
If I could, I would keep my boat in Needles so that I could haul to either Havasu or Laughlin.

Thor, kc is headed in the direction I was going to say. We've looked at Needles for a while now (actually we're waiting for a lot to open up, I'll tell you about that later http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ). You can get 2 - 4 acre waterfront lots for about $200K and build a very respectable house on it for another $100K (that's what a friend of mine did). You would have your own private launch ramp and dock for about $300K total. And Havasu and Laughlin are only a beautiful 45 min. boat ride away! We love having the place at Cottonwood (and we'll stay there for a while), but since it's on government land we could never own the land outright. But it is ALOT cheaper, the lake is awesome, there are cool people there http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif and it is right in the middle of Vegas and Laughlin. Decisions, decisions. Good luck! I'd be happy to go with you if you want to take a look at some areas!!!!!

Well, we went thru that dilema last year and we decided on Havasu. Keep in mind the hosue was originally meant to be a retirement home for my paretns, but things have changed somewhat, but not completly.
Anyway, we looked only in Laughlin, Bullhead, and Havasu. We did not consider Parker at all, don't really know why, just never thought of it. Dave's place in the Keys is AWESOME! It's great to be right on the water like that.
We chose Havasu mostly becasue we could not find anything in Bullhead/Laughlin that we really liked. Also, we primarily boat in Havasu so that made the choice kind of easy.
I really wanted to try that Marina Coves in Needles but it was just out of our price range. The idea of being right on teh water in Needles and Laughlin and Havasu only minutes away, very tempting!
If you've got any question about building a home ion Havasu, let me know and I can relay our experience and some things to think about.

If I had my pick, it would be Parker. A place on the Keys would be da shizznit. I really like the laid-back atmosphere down there, and the fact that you can go get b-fast, lunch, dinner and a drink by boat. If they had a boat-up supermarket, it would be waterworld.

I am with Keith, Parker would be the place for me. A place on the water there would be great. I like the keys, but I like the places on the river a little more because the water looks a little nicer for the kids to swim in. But begger's can't be chooser's so I will take whatever I can borrow. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I bought in Bullhead simply because I like to run to Havasu, Mead or Mohave. I have it all wired at Katherine's so I don't really have the problems with launching and so forth. I come out to party but at times I like the peace and quiet where my house is. It was very reasonable and I got a 30X30 garage so I can park the toys. Plus being on the AZ side I don't have to wear a helmet when I ride the Harley. I did not want to be on the water because of all the friggin' river rats. They will steal anything that is not bolted down. I am 5 minutes from launching at Camp Davis on the river or 10 minutes from Katherine's. Also you can not beat the view I have looking from my deck. I would not have minded being able to find a place in Boulder but could not find what I wanted. Remember, Laughlin is right in the middle of all of the boating locations. Can't make it a habit of being in the casinos' though. Let me know if you need any help hooking up with a realtor in Bullhead.

I think where I'd buy a place is obvious. I like the little 11 mile strip of river though. Some people (particularly with larger boats) might get sick of it real quick though.
Depends on your personallity I guess.

I have to say when I'm ready I'm seriously going to consider parker although I do most of my boating right now aleast in needles/topac area. I like the fact that in parker your really not that far from havasu, and I wouldn't mind the long water ride to needles since I'm there to hang & Drive the boat anyways. And I want to own the land, F leasing it.. so for me it would be between parker & needles..

Just stay away from texas or any other flood zones, its hard to call for help. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
It seems like Parker is getting pricy while Havasu is staying the same (relatively).
True?
