Someone had asked where to go to take a Boat Safety course on one of the threads but I'm too lazy to find it. Anyway, since most of you live in Nevada I'll give you the info. for the "Silver State".
Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW)
www.nevadasafeboating.org
The site gives a list of what courses are available and how to sign up, etc.

Where exactly did you see any classes offered? I looked all over that site and didn't find a thing. Maybe I'm just blind. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

My bad Keith, I was told that was a good site but did not check it myself. Try this one, I checked it:
www.usps.org/e_stuff/usps_ed.html
It is the US Power Squadron (888.367.8777). The Nevada Division of Wildlife said they do not offer courses yet, but by law they have to offer them starting the end of this year. Those courses will be certified, if you want to wait for those, but the USPS courses are apparently certified also.
Hope THIS helps! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Just talked with the local chapter head of USPS. He told me their next class is 10am - 2 or 3 pm May 25th at Desert Pontiac/GMC in Henderson. That's Memorial day weekend, but I don't get my boat until the following week, so I think I'll attend.
The course doesn't cost anything, but they do want you to buy their book ahead of time. It costs $20, and that's when you register for the class. If you're interested, contact Dick Roush at 877-0926 to get your book and get on the list of attendees.
I'm going to do it...anyone else up for a "club event"?

Sounds good to me! Lets get a LVHB Club attendece and show the "Hot Boat" community that we give a s**t!! Besides, I hear if you submit the certificate of completion to your insurance company you get a major break! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Okay, just talked with Richard Roush. Basically, you can send in your money for the book and they will mail you the book. He said to also make sure your phone number is on the check so that they can contact you if the time of the class changes for any reason.
Mail your check for $23.50 to:

I'm sending a check. Do you know what all the course entails? It would be great to get an LVHB showing, and then put the boats in the water the next day for an outing.

If you want more details, call Richard at the number above. Supposedly, this also counts as an accredited course, which may lower your boat insurance! Ask your agent.

Yeah, I'm planning on rolling out, might be a solo mission for me though I don't think my lady can come. I'll see if some of my other boating buddies want to roll, they aren't too reliable though. They are the type where everything sounds good "Oh dude, we're going for sure..." the day before you go "Uh, I'm pretty low on funds right now, and my girlfriend's, brother's, girlfriend's, mom's birthday is that weekend...". It's always something with them!
Is there a capacity limit for those classes, or a deadline to sign up?

Don't know about any limits...just that they want you to get the book and read it ahead of time.

Just us three as far as I know, but I'm guessing Dave (essex Vortex) may want to join as well. I'll have shirts done by then for sure. I talked to your girl STV, actually, someone there at the office and she comes back on the 24th so I'm going to hook up the shirts then.
Thanks!

Do you have the design for the shirts picked out already? Any chance you'd post a sneak peak for us, or do we have to wait? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Picked up my book tonight...doesn't look difficult at all. 10am is the current plan, but they have my number in case that changes.
Should be fun if a bunch of us all show up. C'mon guys!

Hey Impatient, hold your horses! Is your chick going to model it for the site??? I'm going to need some good model pics of the shirt so it will look good http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Ask her, I'll let you see the design first! It's just not done yet.
