Had a little leak in the circulation pump for a 502 magnum mpi over the weekend. I have a rebuild kit... how hard is it to install and repair?

Is it the impellor pump or the actual water pump on the engine?

If it is the impellor, it is very easy. I did mine before the beginning of the season in about 45 minutes. Just make sure you lube the inside of the new housing and fold the impellor fingers over in the right direction. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

its the pump on the left side (if you are looking at the engine from the cockpit). ran it on plane with the hatch open and water was seeping out of the unit.

That is the impellor. $100 for the parts and 45 minutes to change. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Don't tighten the bolts too tight or you will crack the plastic housing (I did that last year). About ten ft-pds or just snug with a short handled wrench.

What D4$ said and what I said above. Just make sure that you pay attention to which way the old vains on the impellor are folded and do the same on the new one. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Where do you live voodoo? Vegas? Mcd, I have put them in backwards and spun it by hand before installing it and they just flip right over to the correct position. I always lube it up real good with a teflon lube left over from my swimming pool equipment though. Voodoo, also make sure you remember which hose goes to which port, I've also mixed those up after too many beers during the install process. Some pumps are right handed rotation and some are left, make sure you have the same pump before install.

That is good to hear. I didn't know if they would do that as they are in there pretty tight. Now I know.....your not perfect! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif That is probably why they say to lube it up good too.

I live near summerlin... Jones and Cheyenne. I have done a lot of work on muscle cars over the years but never attempted anything on marine engines... I know the concept is basically the same

That is the location...the fuel pump and impellor are run off the same pulley.
