Of course this week we're not taking the Bimmer. We'll be driving the Honda 'cause of the $2.00+ gas right now. We leave the truck in the garage there and the little Civic @ 42 MPG is the commuter vehicle of choice. Last weekend the Bimmer cost us $70 or so.

We have a truck stored at the house in Havasu. Then we use my lit'l commuter car to go back and forth. It makes it difficult if I need the truck for something at home though.

F$cking Shell Oil is closing a refinery in Bakersfield pretty soon unless the government steps in. That refinery produces something like 2% of the gasoline and 6% of the diesel that is produced in California. They acquired it in the Chevron/Texaco merger when C/T had to divest itself of assets for the merger to be approved. Shell is claiming it's not profitable to ship oil to the refinery as the local crude is drying-up. Think that closing this refinery just might tighten fuel supply in CA a little more? Ever wonder why there are record profits being made by the big oil companies? California refiners are pocketing $0.70 on each and every gallon of gasoline produced in the state.

This situation smells as bad as the energy crisis in CA.
