Can't get up there by boat http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif We were there last month, went up the lake and turned around way before Pearce ferry because the water was really muddy looking, couldn't see obsticles and the water was only 12' deep in the middle. We were just about 4 miles past South Cove. We camped about 2 miles past South Cove and had a blast!! The water up there is awesome! I guess they have been shuttling all the river rafters from Pearce Ferry because they can't get in there to drop people off any longer. They put them in big blue jet boats and run down to South Cove.

The ramp at Temple Bar was interesting, had to launch off to one side of it, they are rebuilding it right now. There were 2 lanes to launch, not too big a deal though as that place was not crowded at all. It is still well worth the trip because South of Temple Bar the water is absolutely perfect to play in http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

you guys are speaking greek to me! unfortunately i've never been to that part of the lake.....yet. i'm planning on doing a bit of exploring next year. i'm not as worried about water conditions and my range with the daytona is quite a bit longer. i've always heard that big sandy and that part of the lake is worth the drive.

I am thinking about planning a cruise out that way for our convention next year. That part of the lake is real pretty. And not crowded. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

You're bringing back memories of the old days. I was raised on that end of the lake and when I was a kid we could launch our boat at Pierce Ferry. I think those days are gone. Even when the water level was high there was so much silt that had filled the Pierce Ferry area that you had to navigate through trees to get up the canyon. Now if you go past Iceburg Canyon (north of South Cove) you should have a depth finder. You will need it. Kinda depressing. Funny how the level on Havasu has stayed the same.

Great thread BajaDuo...I have spent alot of time at that end of the lake during my pro bass fishing days twenty years ago, many memories. We used to stay at Temple Bar for a week at a time and explore Gregg's Basin, God's Pockets, Iceberg Canyon, etc. I've been there when the restaurant at Temple Bar had to be protected with sand bags because the water level was as high as the floor level!! I've boated to the mouth of the Colorado River and actually fished some of the side waters up there!! Alot of boaters now hang out at Sand Point in Gregg's Basin. Very beautiful at that end of the Lake. It's good to hear they're finally fixing the ramp.

I knew there was something else that was different. I swear you could see the bottom in 50' deep waters in the old days. It was crystal clear then. Not green.

That seems like along time ago.

i've heard that because it has stayed this warm for this long and the lack of rain, it's causing the algea to grow like crazy. don't know how much truth there is to it though.

When we were there last month, you were stepping on grasses and plants in about 3 1/2' of water. Don't know if that's normal or not, but it was everywhere. Your theory sounds good to me, Rude!
