i find it so sad that everyone has to PLAN 1 time to meet up at the lake and hype it as if it were the function of the year. a club that prides itself as a hot boat club really needs to be out all the time. i vote for the gettogether date to be may 1 st till november 6 th. last sunday was a blast and really cool to meet in person the faces behind the keyboards. i know not everyone can make it out all the time butt it would be great to see you more than once a year. hell just go over to little sandy beach and you'll see the same group all the time. they need to join up to the club. come on people i challange you to show up enough times so i can call you by name, not the guy in the ( insert boat name here ) SEE YA AT THE LAKE!

The "club" is made up of people from all over - not just the Vegas/Lake Mead area. We have probably met more times in Havasu and Mohave than Mead for the non-Vegas guys. Having a few well publicized "events" to get the whole (or as much as possible) "club" together is a good idea. It worked well for the first Regatta and also for the BETA event this year. The more events that are on the calender the better. The reality is not all members are local to Mead so the practicality of large group events is limited.

I understand what you are saying. I go to the lake allot. I have gone by Sandy many times. I chose not to stop. Why, I dont want my little boat swamped by the waves. I dont want to be hasseled by the cops. I want my dog to run free and chase lizards and such. Plus I like exploring different parts of the lake. I have been more places in a year than most go in 20. I have a 18 footer and have gone from Las Vegas bay, up the Virgin river so far I have run aground. I have been past Big sandy to Hells kitchen. I want to go up the Grand Canyon, but that might have to wait till next year. I know all kinds of little coves along the way. I reset my GPS trip odometer every time I go out and I have been over 80 miles in one day on the bottom of my boat. I wish I did see more people at the lake Aqua. I activly look for people all the time. When I see your boat, I will definatly say hi and throw a beer at you and we can say that someone goes to the lake. BTW, I like calm water in a small boat. I like a few publicized events as it helps organize the brain to plan time to catch up with folks on these boards and bring more together.

I also agree with Aquaholic that every weekend (or weekday) is a potential time to cross one another's paths on the lake and I'm out as much as possible as that is where I like to get away to ... 100 + hours on the new engine since this season started.

AGREED with Red Horse on Sandy Cove ... I keep my boat in Boulder City so must cruise the Vegas end of the lake to get where I want to go and always stop by Sandy Cove for a swim or a beer on the way ... but lately the water is oily from too much traffic and trash is floating about, when I put in on the beach my kids and I spend an hour picking up all the cig butts, food wrappers, beer cans, and etc. that folks simply throw everywhere, there are too many drunken jerks to avoid that are just plain dangerous to be behind a boat wheel, when my family tries to use the porta-potties they usually have not been cleaned and someone has puked on the floor, cops are everywhere (and I do not mind the patrols, just the unwarranted stopping and checking of those of us who are not part of the problems) and there is too much violent and aggressive behavior throughout the day and particularly at night.

I simply shake my head most mornings and cruise to parts unknown in the north basin to explore and enjoy ... and here's hoping that LVHB beach and many other spots in the north basin do not become discovered to the point of similar ruination of what Sandy Cove used to be years ago.

Aqua, you're just a year late. I was at the lake damn near every weekend last summer, fall and winter! My boat decided to REQUIRE some TLC, so I've been in hermit mode to pay for it. It's received most, but still have a bit to go. I'll be out in full force by next summer, but I'm hoping more for this winter...will I see you on the lake in January?
