What is the name of ............. when you have a switch for your exhaust to where it can either go out of the outdrive, under water so it's quiet, OR flip the switch so it goes out through the transom, loud!! ? Is that what Silent Choice is? Does anyone have what I am talking about? Do you even know what I'm talking about? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Silent Choice is a name brand. Many companies make swichable exhaust that will do the same thing. I put on my boat, it cost about $1,200.00 Mine is made by IMCO. Look in the back of Hot Boat or Power Boat for manufactures. Hope this helps.

Thanks diggin. Â*One of the guys I rode with a couple weeks ago had it and I forgot to ask him about it. Â*I figure it's a good thing to have since they are getting on ya for noise these days. Mine is pretty loud and kinda gets annoying on looooong rides. Does it hurt performance at all when it's through the outdrive or is it not even noticeable?

I put it on for the noise but it is nice to able to shut it off when the rangers are around. I gained maybe one or two MPH when they are open, not alot for the money spent. Mine just has stock Merc exhaust manifolds, headers are supposed to add 30+ HP but cost another $2500+. BTW when I said $1200 that was completly installed price. I didn't do any work on myself. It was also four years ago.

When I bought my boat, it had a Corvette 350 with stock manifolds and the exhaust ran through the outdrive. Â*Now, the 350 has been very hopped up and it has Lightening headers with the exhaust through the transom with SS tips. Â*It is loud right now, and as you said, it would be nice to be able to switch when the rangers are around. Â*I scared a lady so bad when I started it one time that she fell into the water off the dock. Â*The exhaust was pointed right at her. Â*I assume since it once ran out the outdrive (the holes and fittings are still there) it should be pretty easy to do.

Thanks again diggin. Â*BTW, here's a pic of the transom of my boat.

You can probably buy new tips that have the valves right in them. Put in a couple of Y-pipes and flex house, hook up the electric switch and you're in business. An easier way might be to go with silencers that can be switched on and off. It wouldn't be quiet like through the prop but who wants to be that quiet anyway. You wouldn't have to do all the extra plumbing this way and you would still have all your power when they are open. My Hot Boat mag showed up in the mail yesterday, I'll look to see if anybody has ads for them.

Yes, I'm an internet geek. I've accepted my problem and I am going to support meetings for it. Â*http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Good for you! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That sounds like a good solution DF$. I DON'T want to be that quiet, but at times, quieter than I am now. Swithchable silencers huh!? That could be a lot easier too.
