Hey guys,
When I was at the lake with Rude last weekend we were talking about the AMSOIL stuff. I'm no mechanic but it sounds pretty damn impressive. (Red in Vegas, you may want to try out this stuff http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif )
Anyway, does anyone have any experience/knowledge with this good or bad? I was thinking about putting it in my lawnmower http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

In my boat: Other oil (Synthetic) 60 PSI cold and about 45-50 warm, at WOT could bring pressure down real low because I need a bigger oil pan and would empty it.
With Amsoil: 60 PSI, at idle, WOT, cold, hot, and I got .4 more MPH on the GPS. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
It is good stuff. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Yeah, he mentioned it worked well for you. Sounds like really good stuff. I couldn't help but notice his boat either - I asked him if he'd just waxed it and I guess they have a product for that, and a dry car wash too.

I used to be an Amsoil dealer in another lifetime. Great products. The only negative is a short blurb by Bob Teague basically saying he didn't like synthetics in general for the marine motors. His rationale is his own but I have used Amsoil products extensively. Now, do I use it in the boat? No. Reason...I change the fluids at the beginning of the season each year and I have only 75 hours on the boat in 3 seasons. Not cost effect at this time until I start putting more hours on it between changes. I currently have a 5 yr extended warranty on the motor and drive so if there is any failures I am covered. For oil I use Kendall Racing 40 weight as recommended by Teague and Savage Marine (my last two servicing places). The outdrive contains only Mercury Marine lubricants. If I were NOT under warranty I would be using the Amsoil products as they are superior to any other lubricants in my opinion. At least those that are readily available to the public.
For lawnmowers? Be careful...with Amsoil's increased lubricity and reduced friction properties you may end up with a Tim Allen "monster" lanwmower! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

No you bonehead - I'm going to sell it through BoatXchange. I'll get over 30,000 people through the site this month alone - I'm going to link a banner on the home page to another site where someone can order.
Basically I'm going in Rude's downline and just sell it through the site - I don't have to keep any inventory or anything - just through the net.

Can anyone see any reason I shouldn't?

Good luck with the venture!
right on greg!! let me know when i can check out your site! E502, you will NOT void your warranty on your outdrive, or anything else for that matter, by using something other than merc oil/lube. if they are telling you that they are WRONG!!!

AV GAS. Works awsome and smells great. You could mow down a hay field and never stall out. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Not worried about that at all. Using the factory recommended lubricants during warranty periods does ese the burden slightly in case something fails but the issue never holds up. I just haven't gotten enough cost/benefit numbers together since I have been changing the oils in the boat every season and have yet to put more than 25 hours on it in a single season.

FYI....Teague recommended Amsoil for my outdrive.
I switched to Amsoil last season...and all is well.
Now, if changing outdrive oil wasn't such a pain in the a**.....

I am. He's close. What's the deal here?
i was just giving you a hard time http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif but if you are buying roughly $100 of product per year it could be worth your while to look into signing up as a preferred customer or a dealer. drop me a pm if you have any questions, i'd be glad to help. (if you can't tell i'm dealer also) http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
