who's up for this?
8/3 at Cottonwood (because they have more water) LVHB "On Fire" Regatta to benefit the Outside Las Vegas Foundation (which focuses on keeping Lake Mead clean and pristine) or another charity of our choice (suggestions welcome).
It would be a one day event for all LVHB members and outsider's welcome. We'll get marine shops to donate work, detailing, and products and charge 15$ or 20$ for a day on the lake with LVHB to benefit a charity. At the same time, we could do the Hot Boat Mag photo shoot and article.
Anyone up for this? Opinions? It doesn't have to be huge, but it's gotta be fun, benefit a charity, and promote hot boating throughout the southwest.

..... and it's someones birthday that day. I hear he is a VERY cool guy!!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
We could even do a little poker run (it is Las Vegas) but for fun so all $ goes to charity. I could get a bunch of people from the neighborhood to go, although I can't guarantee all will be "Hot" boats.

Hey Greg,
I wish I knew earlier about this event. Already made plans for Park Moabi and Havasu. Â*Maybe I could pull out for a day and drive up to Cottonwood. Â*Do you have a planned itinerary, if so, email it to me so I can makes plans.

The charity thing sounds great as long as it's not one those Nazi type charities that wants to take away everything we do on the lake. Doing it for charity would even make the club look better in the eyes of Hot Boat. I'm all for it. Any weekend

Sounds like a cool idea. How far is Willow Beach and/or Cottonwood Cove form Havasu? I'd have to drive up from Havasu on Saturday morning after picking up the boat. I suppose I could launch at Katherines and then cruise up, but that damn large basin South of Cottonwood can get eff'n rough! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I'm not positive, but I think it's probably less than a 35 or 40 minute drive - RL, am I right?
How about the possibility of getting some type of tickets or flyers printed up that show the date and event? Then we could send or take them to each prospective participant. Just an idea. I think I speak for most of us in that we are willing to take time to help out and pull this together. Just list what you need and want done. I think this is definitely going to be a group effort.

Oh Hell Yeah, this will be a huge group effort. I'm going to make a list over the next couple of days of things that would need to be done.
Any able and willing volunteers please stand up (not literally you dumbass http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I mean post so here http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif ) I know we can pull it off with help. If enough people volunteer, it won't be that hard on any one of us, and what a great event.
The first thing I need some of you to do is check out www.outsidelasvegas.org and tell me if you think it's a good cause. If not, make suggestions. I want it to be a good cause, hopefully boating or lake related if you know what I mean.
Let's do some good in the boating world, and have a great time doing it! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Climactic - great to hear from you. Keep checking back for updates and who knows, we may change the date or at least give you enough notice to come up for the day. It would be good catch you on the lake again.

Unfortunately Katherine is about an hour and CC is another 45 min. from Havasu. You'd probably be better just going to CC because it will be less crowded, no entrance fee (Katherine there is), and that damn basin.
Greg, I'm your regatta slave. Let me know.

Ok, so it looks like it's a 2 hour drive for me from Havasu. That's not that bad, except at the end of the day. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/stare.gif

LM1, I read the website at outside Las Vegas, very boring. They don't seem too hostile but it's really tough to figure out what they stand for. The only thing they talk about much is cleaning up litter and building hiking trails. I couldn't tell if they were for boating or against it. It sounded as if they were still trying to raise funds but haven't been able to do anything yet. I just hate to see our hard earned dollars going to build a trail in Red Rock. I will look a little harder and see what I can find out.
