View Full Version : boat count for the fiesta on may 3rd
i know i started a similar post a couple of weeks ago but it's almost game time!!! how many boats are planning on being at the fiesta on sat. morning between 6:30 and 7:00? also, who plans on launching from willow/cottonwood? i'm going to try to film the convoy as it goes by nelson's landing, i think RL is going to film the crew that is launching from willow and i remember someone saying they would film as the party pulls into cottonwood.

As you know, I am riding with my bitch THOR this time and he's gonna pick me up at the Fiesta. I will be filming the Willow crew, as well as some Fiesta footage.
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! Hope the weather holds. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh.gif

I'm(we're?) hoping to make it, but the weather report is looking grim, rain all day, high in the 60s, and wind ... the rest of the family votes may win out if the weather reports don't change.

TMF-Hang in there...the weather changes very quickly out there. They are already saying mid 80's now with rain moving to Sunday.
Rude - I will be videoing the caravan coming into Cottonwood Cove so I need to know about what time you will be coming in so I can be ready. It might work well to have to call me on the FRS when you come around the corner down towards the ramp. Let's figure this out...KC, any thoughts?

Coming from So. Cal. - why would you launch from Willow? Is there and advantage over Cottonwood?
Not the socal crew, just some LV guys are launching from WIllow. You are at a good advantage launching from Willow 502.

Greg, I made it in exactly an hour on Sunday towing the boat from Cottonwood to Lake Mead Blvd. and I was going slow with all of the traffic coming home from Laughlin. Â*But then again my truck hauled ass up the hill to Searchlight! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*Wanna borrow it? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
DB - Unfortunately I'm not going to make it this year to Supercross. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif Are you gonna try to come out on the water that day for a while? Hope to see you there.

How much of a hill is it from Laughlin into searchlight? Is it worse than Halloran/Nipton road. I'm debating on using the 40 to the 95 instead of 15 (construction).
Advise?

Coming out of Laughlin on 163 there is a big hill getting to 95. I know about that one. Towing 6k with Dodge 4X4 gas I was doing 45 mph. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

David - I think the construction on 15 is between you and the 40. I went through there a couple of weeks ago and it isn't too bad...a little narrow. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif I am planning on taking the 15 to Nipton...is there construction past the 40?
its all good
04-29-2003, 12:11 PM
IF YOU TAKE 40 TO 95 YOU WONT HAVE TO GO THROUGH LAUGHLIN SO THE HILL WONT BE AN ISSUE , JUST TAKE 40 TO 95 AND GO TO SEARCHLIGHT IT IS THE EASY DRIVE AND LEAST AMOUNT OF HILLS BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE TO CLIMB MOUNTAIN PASS OR BAKER GRADE

Willow must be closer to LV for the local guys right?? I'm coming in from San Diego and should I take the 15 to 164 (?) to Searchlight
or the 40 to 94 and up? I dont have pulling problems...I drive a FORD! jk...which way do you think is best? Thanks, NB
NB,
I lived in socal for 20 years, LV for 10, now I am back in socal.
Personally, the easier ride is I-15 to Searchlight. Granted, the Baker grade sucks ass, but it is a straight shot. The I-40 is a pleasant ride also if there is no construction. I-15 construction is much less obstructive for traveling than I-40 construction.
I am leaving Friday morning for LV, so if you see a white Expedition pulling a teal Eliminator, that is me so honk!

Thanks for advise. I think I'll try the 40 to 95. The construction has started between Baker and Stateline and if there is an accident (has been every weekend for 3 weeks the backup is over 50 miles long. I don't want to be late.
My GMC pulls hills just fine it's just if I don't have to punish my 13 year old truck why do it. (Besides passing the new "HD" trucks makes them feel bad http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )
Moving to Vegas wouldn't be bad if they'd put some water back in Mead. Just too far from Glamis.
See everyone this weekend.
The 95 between 40 and searchlight is a fun right. Careful for the train tracks, the sneak up in a hurry and can cause some real damage.
You cross over the original route 66 also. Cool.

NashvilleBound, I got your message! The best, wide open parking I have found is the lot behind the mall. It is owned by The Edgewater and Colorado Belle. It's free if you're staying at one of those hotels, it has 24 hr. security and you can use as many spaces as you want. They run a shuttle to the hotels every 5 mins. or so. My 24 Vindicator and Donnie's 25 Daytona will be parked in there. This is all unless the parking is totally wide open at the actual hotel and they tell me at the desk that I can use 4 spaces???
We'll be in town around 10:30A Friday, up to the lake around 11:30 after checking in. Launch at Katherine's, run up to Cottonwood to help KC and the gang. Donnie will be riding with us Friday to save his AvGas for Saturday. So, you'll see his Eliminator in the lot on Friday.
Don't know exactly what time we'll be heading out to tow to Cottonwood on Satuday morning. I would like to be out of Laughlin around 7:30.
So, in summary, get a room at The Belle or Edgewater, and you should be able to find us http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
My room will be under Brad Davis, and Donnie's under Donnie Henson at The Edgewater. We'll be roaming the casinos Friday and Saturday night. Make a list of the cell #'s from that other thread. I'll put a few details for those staying in Laughlin on another thread! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Â*See ya' there!!

Harrah's, in my opinion, is by far the best hotel in Laughlin and it's not far out of the way with the water taxi !! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Also, the 95 between Laughlin and Searchlight now has passing lanes so it moves a little quicker now. Can't wait till they finish the other two lanes from Searchlight to Boulder!! http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
