Was I the only LVHB dude to be at Mojave this weekend? http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Anyway, it was very fun, and pretty damn crowded. I don't know if any of you have been to Cottonwood Cove before, but they were parking WAY past the ranger station!!!! Since my boat wasn't working, I was saved by all of my friends and neighbors that showed up. The boats included : a 30' Baja, two 24' HTMs, a 120 mph 38' Scaarab, a 28' Lavey Craft, and the new 32' Schiada "America's Most Wanted" from a recent issue of Hot Boat showed up.
The weather was very nice, no wind, and nothing like going 120 mph in a 38 foot boat. http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif Hope everyone was safe and had a very good time!!

Good to hear you had a good time. After you losers get back from Powell we'll have to have another outing at Mead.

Dave,
What is that on your Avatar?
RL,
Did you take a ride on any of the HTMs? I was looking at those in past months. I have heard several things. One, I am use to my Eliminator and I have heard from other owners that they are not as stable at high speeds. True? Then again, I have heard just the opposite. Are they really that fast?
BTW, that was quite an impressive grouping of boats you listed. Between Dave and LM1, my boat looked that a junker. Pretty good company though.

Don't think so Thor, you got a nice boat!
It was great to meet you and Mrs. Thor out there. I look forward to more get togethers in the near future. BTW, you live up to your name!
I think that's Dave's wife and one of their newfoundlands.

Glad to hear everyone had nice safe trip. Boy sat was really nice day, sun. kind of sucked we got off the water pretty early. but still had a great time. I heard somebody over in hotboat saying somebody died from Carbon Monoxide fumes over at sandy beach from teak surfing (I think thats what its called). also somebody drowned in the channel at Havasu. Thats like 8 people in the past 2 months. Did you guys hear anything about this?

Teak surfing is where you hang off the back of a boat and they drag you around, but I guess you actually hang onto the teak swim step. I guess the term come from the fact that alot of the wake board boats have teak swim-steps. The carbon monoxide builds up right under that area. THIS DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A VERY BRIGHT WAY TO HAVE FUN!!!

sounds pretty dangerous and not that bright. I'll stick with my wakeboard.
What about the channel drowing - alcohol and stupidity, or just an accident?
This is a sad way to start the boating season.
The word from other web sites is the guy in the channel was extremely drunk and fell into the water and passed out. Someone was looking for some sunglasses the fell into the water and found the drowning victim.
Just what I heard.
LM, Dave, STV,
How was your ride back that day?

rough - really rough but bearable - and you?

Thor, it was rough as crap out there. How much longer did you guys stay and did it smooth out?
We went about 35-40 mph all the way throught the narrows then had to slow down. It was really rough.
We hung out until about 3http://www.lasvegashotboats.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0 or so.

Thor, I am also thinking about an HTM. Unfortunately, I didn't get to ride in it for very long. I mainly rode in the 30' Baja which was very nice and very fast, but very hard to see where you're going, and the 38' Scaarab which was VERY fast. I have never gone that fast (120) in a boat before which quite frankly scared the s**t out of me. I don't need to go that fast! I only rode in one of the HTMs for about 20 min. and didn't get a good chance to see how it handled. We idled around the marina waiting on people for about 15 min. then cruised to a cove at about 50 mph. on almost sheet glass for the other 5 min. where I had to switch boats because the owner of the HTM had to go switch props. It seemed to ride exceptionally smooth for a 24' boat though. It planed almost instantly too. He said he wanted to take me for a much better ride soon and let me drive it. I'll have to let you know when so maybe you can meet us down there (Cottonwood Cove) and come with us. Knowing him, you'd be more than welcome to come along!
I know it's not your normal stomping ground, but maybe we could plan on a weekend where all you guys could come to Cottonwood and hang with me and my neighbors. They are very cool guys, with very nice boats, and are VERY fond of "the drink"!!!!!!
RL
Greg is right, the avatar is a pic of my chick and my dog..I figured it was time to make my own..many more to come.
The ride was rough..we had to get Keith and David into our boat so it would ride a bit smoother for Shannon. Â*
As far as accidents go there was one at Sandy Beach on Monday. Â*A 8 yr girl was killed while swimming near a boat that was pulling out..very sad.

What if we all head down to Cottonwood cove for the 4th??
RL,
Do you ever head up river to Willow? I have launched at Willow and gone down to Cottonwood. Great ride.
For the price, HTMs are pretty nice. I have talked with HTM a few times on pricing, rigging, etc. and they are very easy to deal with. For about 70K you can pick your colors and are going about 85mph. Good stuff. But, I am ready to buy a house here in So. Cal so I may have to wait on the new boat thing. If only I can get back to LV, life would be a little easier.
I am in for the 4th, I think.

Thor, I agree about the prices of HTMs. Â*That is a pretty good price for what you get. Â*I was also thinking perhaps the 27' Shadow by Ultra which I heard for about the same money you get everything the HTM has, but go around 70-75 which might be good enough for me but then again is 27' too big?. Â*Whatever boat I get I will have for a while so I want to make sure it's big enough for a family (kids to take naps on out of the sun, etc.) Â*Any word on those? However, a house also comes first.
And Yes, I have taken that ride to Willow many times. Â*We used to love that ride because we would cruise down there, have some lunch, then keep going to the dam. Â*There are also some really cool hot springs and areas to hike around down there. Â*We still make that run every time we go, only now we pack a lunch because the restaurant closed.
COTTONWOOD WOULD BE AWESOME !!!!!!!
RL
It sounds good for me. I will probably want to bum a ride off one of you guys though, shannon will be in full effect on the pregnancy.
