A buddy of mine in LV called last night and told me what he saw on the news. He said that the NPS has introduced a bill to do two things.
1- Limit the total number of boats to enter the park at a given time. How many with this be? Who knows.

2- Discontinue the consumption of alcohol on the lake by not allowing any alcohol to be brought into the park.

Has anyone else heard this? Is this a possibility?

thanks,
THOR

If that's true, then they're basically saying go away boaters, and we'll just go to Mojave, Havasu, and Powell. Screw that if it's true, but I haven't heard that yet.

I haven't heard of this, But it SUCKS, Does lake mead get that crowded that they would need to limit the # of boats ? When ever were out there seems like we hardly ever see anyone. shit just say no alcohol and they would eliminate about 85% of poeple from going ? F*** I guess anything is possible anymore.

Unfortunately I think it is true and the lakes you mentioned LM1 are part of it also. Â*However it may take like 10 or so years to go into effect. Â*By them starting to charge admittance into the parks, I have heard, is the first step. Â*Where our place is (Cottonwood Cove, Lake Mojave) we have annual home owners meetings Easter weekend. Â*This year they basically said that in a couple of years the lease is up for the land that Cottonwood Cove sits on which Forever Resorts owns. Â*They said that it is up for bid which Forever Resorts will most likely win, but, the state has said that who ever wins the bid will have to comply with new rules and regulations set forth by the government, one of which will be every launch ramp into the Colorado River that is on government land to charge a lake useage fee. Â*Cottonwood Cove is one of the only ramps that is still free. Â*The two others, Willow and Katherine, already charge, and I know Mead does. Â*

One of my other points is that the government wants to get rid of all non-permanent residence living on the Colorado River. Â*At Cottonwood Cove we own a trailer in which we aren't allowed to live year-round but may only use as a vacation residence. Â*WTF!! Â*The government has said that eventually the "trailer village" Â*will be removed completely and more RV space and a bigger motel will be built. Â*Again, it won't be for another 10 or more years, but we all got the feeling that this is where it is heading, slowly but surely.

By what we heard at the home owners meeting what Thor had heard is true, but will take a long time to enforce. Â*With the alcohol, they made it sound like they wanted to make the law on the water more like the law on land; no open alcohol containers in the boat at any time, no glass, and the operator of the boat may not have a drink. Â*I see no problem with THAT law. Â*I think that one would be good, but the other one......

Maybe charge, and use the money to keep it clean and safe, but............

I don't have any hard evidence to back myself up, I will look, but that is the feeling everyone at the meeting had. For some reason they would not answer our questions directly, f**king politics, however they never denied our assumptions. So I will leave this as my strongly felt Opinion!

Fellas,
I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, but I feel this is a valid issue since we are all active boaters. If this campaign is successfull in keeping the riff-raff off of the lake, then I feel it is great.

I didn't mean to sound ruffled if that's how I came across because I'm not. The only thing that irritates me is the trailer village we have at CC. I want to get out of there. You pay all this money, then they tell you what you can and can't do, THEN tell you you're out a' there. Other than that, I'm not too worried about the future laws, I agree, I think it will seperate the men from the boys so-to-speak!
